Send a bucket of power to Toronto ... or else
Gee, am I the only person who was offended when Toronto Mayour Mel Lastman suggested that the rest of Ontario should be without power today just so all those busy little Torontonians could scurry to their IMPORTANT jobs?
Next thing you know, George Bush is going to be suggesting that Ontario Hydro is concealing WMD and then ... look out!
Seriously, congratulations to all law enforcement and security personnel in Ontario who worked some LONG hours to maintain order. Even as far away as Manitoba (we know that we came close to losing power too), we appreciate the job you did and we are cutting back on power where we can too.

Yeah, I was wondering a little about Mel myself.
(Can you spell "senile"?)
I think he's gearing up for seperation with the rest of Ontario!

Mel's antics shouldn't shock us anymore - remember when he called out the military because of snow?
Got photographed shaking hands with an OMG member?
Opined that he might be cooked by the locals somewhere in Africa?
This moron is still in office????

You know what amazed me was the way government official from the US and Canada were going off half-cocked and laying the blame at each other's feet. First it's a lightning strike in PQ, then it's a fire in a noooocular plant in Pa, and all of this unsubstantiated. Is there something about our elected officials that stops them from saying the words "I DON'T KNOW"? Instead, we here rumour after rumour being perpetuatated by people who really ought to know better than to say anything when they know nothing. This is one of the reasons we have a credibility gap every time an emergency occurs. And I noticed today, before the cause of the outage is even confirmed, that officials in both countries were calling for increased electricity rates in both countries to pay for upgrades Hmmm..maybe I should but more Manitoba Hydro stock..it's looking better all the time

Too bad Hydro's a crown corp. You'll have to settle for shares in MTS.

And we ALL know that the telephone system - very much like the cable companies - would NEVER think of gouging the public, don't we.
I wonder if Mr. Lastman is even aware that the term we use for Toronto as the "center of the universe" is NOT a compliment.
Few Torontonians even get that old joke:
"How many Torontonians does it take to change a light bulb? Only ONE ... they hold it in place and the WHOLE WORLD revolves around them."
Thankfully, although the international headquarters and main corporate offices for Blue Line Magazine take up about eight floors of our office building in Markham, the MAIN brains of the operation still reside somewhat north of there - miles from Toronto (and light years away philosophically speaking.)

Perhaps Mr Lastman is ready for a career change. Iraq could use a new Propaganda.....er Information Minister to replace Comical Ali.

Mark,
Ohhh well, there's always Hydro Bonds. And to show my support for the old "Mother Corporation", I think I'll just crank the a/c down another degree, right now!

I'm not sure we have to go that far - after all, tasers use batteries!

One WEEK!
Are you serious?
What are we going to do for sport, with Mary and Morley in Halifax for the CACP Show!

In support of Ontario's power grid, I propose a one week ban on tasering Les. Once the grid is stable again, you can resume.
