From my personal experience I would say ptsd is not a problem, anxiety is.
Don't kid yourself, anxiety is one of the primary symptoms of PTSD. PTSD is very often also cumulative and will develop over time after repeated exposures to traumatic events.

This I don't have an issue with.
It's the people who see ONE fight or ONE BS attention seeking suicide "attempt" and then go off for months or all of a sudden are "no inmate contact"...
These weaklings cheapen the PTSD claims made by those who've had to deal with this stuff for YEARS over and over again.

Been looking at houses as I have to relocate near EMDC, rent and house prices are crazy right now!

Anyone else in the same position as me and needing to relocate ?
Right now just getting a 1 bedroom before moving the family down after I settle into a schedule and hopefully be getting near 40 hrs per week.
1 bedrooms apartment for a good area 1200-1500.

Is there a set schedule for when COTA runs throughout the year? Or is it a as needed?

Hey guys anyone hear anything? Last I heard from recruitment was that my VSC was sent off on feb 22nd. I’m wondering when would be a rough date to hear back as everything is completed. I’m hoping I can hear something back by April. Cheers and all the best

Waiting to know if/when I'm scheduled to do the NEO. Everything else has been completed (with regard to VSC, it's been sent off... but I don't know status of it).

The last I heard from them was when they sent me an e-mail saying they received my VSC back in mid-Febuary. They contacted my references about two weeks after that. Waiting for the NEO test now.

They got back to me about 3 months after I completed the last step of the recruitment process. Also it depends on which location you chose, I’d expect a response in May/June based off your timeline. Best of luck!

Currently in the first week of virtual training. There is a lot of material to go over. It’s all self learning: at your own pace we are given modules and assignments that need to be completed by Friday. On Fridays we have a test 70% is a pass. This is for the first 4 weeks, then we head to COTA(Hamilton) for the last 4 weeks of training.
I’ll keep this updated as much as possible.

If you fail a test then the instructors work with you closely to make sure you know the content before taking a retest. The only way I can see somebody failing is if you don't participate. So try to get good sleep, show up to class every day and participate and you should have absolutely zero issues.
one of the best advises so far 👍🏻

This I don't have an issue with.
It's the people who see ONE fight or ONE BS attention seeking suicide "attempt" and then go off for months or all of a sudden are "no inmate contact"...
These weaklings cheapen the PTSD claims made by those who've had to deal with this stuff for YEARS over and over again.
another issue is retaining these same people while they are still FXT, and then rolling them over, it should not happen, they are on contract; if there is an issue with fairness and all that, i see it unfair to keep someone work in a field where it causes them psychological harm

I think any sane, well-adjusted adult should understand why hiring COs as FXT in the first place is a tragedy and a disservice to the entire organization. Neither this service nor anyone who is a part of it should have any hand or say in anyone else's psychiatric issues either; that includes the forum-dwelling peanut gallery. Rollovers are based on time-in, not "fitness" for the job and if they were, a whole lot fewer people would be rolling over for wide array of reasons outside of bogus peetus claims.

I don't personally have any issues with PTSD, but I know a lot of people who do and the last thing this joke of a ministry should do is start hamstringing peoples' careers because of it. Hire new guards as Permanent Fulltime employees, start providing benefits that actually cover psychotherapists and for the love of god, support your staff. I've personally heard lack of support for floor staff cited as the main reason why people are going off on stress.

Perhaps we ought to cull the population of hider managers and maybe we can have some joints that run like actual institutions. Then again why not just keep hiring part-time luggers grifting this sensitive, high-security job. Good idea, right?

let me backtrack here a bit, i guess i was little generalizing in my statement but this issue is too sensitive and complex to be seriously discussed on a public forum, yes it’s a disservice to have fix terms hired for this job and a first issue (or one of the first) to be done with, once we get proper representation, another is the hiring process, from my narrow and selfish perspective, i have nothing against someone who struggles and tries to over one their issues, but i don’t see why someone who spends first 3 years of their career on accommodations, rolls over just to keep hiding away from working IN THE JAIL, i mean information is there, you know what you signing up for right?
