Railway Police - CN and CP

Postby Highland2012 » Thu May 06, 2021 4:10 pm

Anyone know what the CN or CP rail police hiring agendas are looking like for 2021/2022?

I've been interested for a while, and can never seem to find an open hiring forum for either of them.

Additionally, does anyone know the pros/cons of CN vs CP?

In my experience, both CN and CP rarely post for anything other than experienced officers.

Every once in awhile, I see job postings for CN and CP Police. However, as Hopeful says, they normally post for experienced officers.

Having said that, I do see the rare post for recruits, and to my understanding, bridge anyone over to a high starting salary with Peace Officer experience -- Conservation, Sheriffs, Corrections, Auxiliary, etc.

Most of the time (but not always) they impose a 50 km applicant radius. So, even if you're qualified, if you don't live within 50 km of the centre they're hiring for, you'll be screened out.

If you're interested, I would just keep an eye on CN and CP's websites since all job postings are posted there. Sometimes, they pop up on Indeed or WowJobs.

One place that I see "a lot" of recruit postings for is the CP Police detachment in Kamloops.

Search of keywords "cn police" in "Topics only" in "Law Enforcement Applicants" area only:

Looks like you will just have to keep stalking both Agencies websites and various job bulletin boards.

In SK, CNR PS and CPR PS members are, or were (I AM the ancient runes-writer!), appointed as Police Officers under SK's The Police Act so they could do whatever wherever whenever whyever further away from the choo-choo rails than the Railway Act authorized them to.
