Seems very Quiet here. Contemplating the idea of transitioning from Ontario corrections to conservation enforcement.

What is the hiring situation like? I have yet to see a posting internal or external in the past few years. It is possible I’ve missed it.

I’ve been told in the past, without a degree in biology, your odds of being hired are slim to none. Does this hold true?

You don’t need a degree in biology to write tickets.

Thanks for posting doorkicker,

Question for you or anyone who may know the answer....

The info page about becoming a conservation officer https://www.ontario.ca/page/become-conservation-officer has the following:

"Conservation officer candidates must successfully complete a law enforcement physical fitness test within nine months prior to the job application due date.

Accepted law enforcement physical fitness tests include:

Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE)
Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police Constable (PREP)
Épreuve standardisée d'aptitudes physiques ESAP-ENPQ Police 2017"

The current posting states:

"• You have the ability to pass psychological and physical assessments to determine suitability and fitness for the position." but I don't see any specifics to holding a certificate

Is it ok to apply without a current certificate, assuming they will ask you to go get one once/if you get to that stage? Or should I be trying to schedule one myself now if I am applying?

thanks !

In the current posting, if you click "View More Information" you will be brought to a page with this:
Candidates will be required to pass physical testing before being hired. The MNRF will arrange PREP testing for selected candidates that do not have valid PREP or PARE test results.

Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police (PREP)
Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE)
I personally am going to wait to see if I get a call before arranging testing, if not just doing the PREP along with everyone who needs it.
