Working as a PCO in another major Ontario city, it really sounds like the toronto process is really in depth. Getting the position here comes down to applying to the internal posting, and having enough seniority points to qualify for an interview as long as you meet the very basic qualifications. This hiring process is followed by 3-6 days of ride alongs with a somewhat experienced officer before you are cut loose on your own to figure it out.

As for the quality of the job, its not a bad gig. If you treat people with respect, they give it back. Most people are angry at them selves for taking a chance and loosing. The only people I work with who get into serious conflicts are those who transfered to the dept. from an other area (waterworks for example) and have no people skills what so ever.

For civilian positions with TPS, if you had an interview, they normally send you a letter if you are unsuccessful.
