Correct, bilingual does mean both French and English. That doesn't make it not a hiring process, of which a user above you posted the link to apply.

If you're referring to a posting where you can apply with English only, then I'm sure only someone within that department can answer your question, anything else would be speculation. You're best bet is to send recruitment an email which will likely give you a reponse to sign up for email alerts and monitor their social media.

If you ask me, all BSOs should be bilingual as Canada officially is bilingual.

So the "big" hiring process is this one now, the other (EN only) is the "limited" one .

I have a hard time agreeing with that. Is having some sort of knowledge of a second language useful, absolutely. But requiring it to be French and English would be hard pressed as Canada only has one constitutionally recognized bilingual province. For example, it would be more beneficial to have a BSO who can speak Mandarin or Cantonese in PAC region vice a BSO who speaks French in the same region. In the prairies, you will hardly come across someone whose mother tongue is french.

"Candidates must be proficient in both English and French to perform the duties of the job" copied directly from the poster.
Sorry all, this one is for applicants who speak both official languages
CBSA Recruitment is unable to say whether there will be a "English: process this year or not ( I asked)

I agree with you that not at all locations speaking French is required. French is good to have and to properly represent the country as a Government agency.

Definitely, as operational requirement - English is enough for some POEs and positions.

I agree with you and for this hiring process they are only asking for BBB which is the minimum . Anybody that really wants to be a BSO could obtain that easily with an online course .

First time posting. I have been in the process since June 2018 and only have PARE and medical left. I just got the email my PARE results must be received May 31st. Gyms are closed in Quebec and I am recovering from a back injury.... Any workouts to get my cardio up quickly so I can pass before May 31st.

Terrified I will not have enough time in 6 weeks to be ready for PARE and would be devastated if this knocks me out of the process.

I will write to see if I can be granted an extension but just in case, please bombard me with fitness plans that can help me go from 0 cardio to passing PARE in 6 weeks.

Thank you/ Merci!

I'm in the same situation, I'm in Ontario and I have contacted a few testing centres and they have all said they can't see that they'll be open before May 31 - I've been waiting for something to open for over a year.
