Yeah fingers crossed, this is my second confirmation of availability so hopefully this one pans out.
My fingers are crossed for you. This is exciting. I can't wait to read about your progression
Well it happened, I got my formal invitation yesterday. Still kind of reeling from the whiplash between the disappointment and elation. I gave notice at my current job that I’ve been at for 15 years, it barely feels real. I’m starting online October 16th and I’m starting in Rigaud November 14. So stoked!
Congrats! Did they include your PoE with that or are they still notifying people part way through the online portion?

They gave me my port selection to sign and return but they also say that it’s not final and subject to change. I really hope it doesn’t change, I’m very happy with it.

We may be the last remaining pre-pandemic applicants. Fingers crossed for both of us to get some good news before the end of 2023!

That’s super exciting! I’m in a weird spot as an already employed federal worker so I can’t spill too much but I’m going to wager depending on your location right now (and desired port) that you shouldn’t have any issues!

My fingers are crossed that I can choose the PoE that’s 20 minutes from my house and 10 minutes from my current office but if not I already know I’ll be doing an LDP to get back here.

Do you (or anyone else) know how/when LDP options are given? I'm familiar with how the old process worked, however they now award posting pre-Rigaud.
Are they offered before official invites are given? Is there a list of available LDP's that you are able to select from, or if you want an LDP do they just assign you one at random?

I think it depends on what process you’re applied on. I had to do a placement survey back in January, on that survey they listed all the locations and many of those locations included remote postings that are eligible for LDP’s. On that survey CBSA stated that if you say yes to all, your candidacy will be expedited.

Wanting to get in as fast as possible but not wanting to be posted just anywhere(Yukon & NWT to name a couple), I agreed to about 75% of the locations listed, then I saw that many people here only listed a few of their preferred locations since technically they’ll stick you anywhere they need you and I started to get nervous that I maybe agreed to too many locations and didn’t specify which would be my actual preferences.

I think if you did a survey, and on that survey you ticked off regions that have remote ports, then you might just get an LDP as your one and only option when your OITP invite comes. There are others that didn’t have a survey and I can’t even comment on how those postings will work, perhaps there will be multiple options, or perhaps it’ll be a take it or leave it LDP.

I guess this is just my long winded way of saying “I don’t know”. I’m just like you guys, maybe just a couple of steps ahead in the process but I’m not privy to any information on how this all works. All I know is got my dates and my port and I couldn’t be happier.

Amazing news! Good luck with training! 🎉💪🏻
I thought it was Nov-Dec for the intake. Does that mean there will be another one in Dec?

I couldn’t tell you. They asked me about November December but then invited me for October November, luckily I was available either way.

I appreciate the insight.

One follow up question. When you say,

"I think if you did a survey, and on that survey you ticked off regions that have remote ports, then you might just get an LDP as your one and only option when your OITP invite comes.",

are recruits given more than one option for placement when they get their OITP invite?

I can only speak for myself, I got one take it or leave it option. I took it lol.

Correct. It fully understand how they get backlogged, but they has to be a better way.

Agreed, the fact that you applied almost 5 years ago and are still waiting is insane.
I’m starting to worry about this type of thing happening to me. I’m about 2.5 years since my application and my French reading and writing tests just expired. I’m at the stage I never wanted to be at, repeating steps. I know it could be worse, I’ve seen people in here repeating steps 3 times. Fingers crossed that I’m in one of the next cohorts as I already received one confirmation of interest email for August but obviously nothing came of it.
Why do they make you re-write the French test? Do they think you’d just forget a language in two years? Lol. Also, I’m one of the pre-pandemic applicants and sometimes I feel like they just want to get rid of us and move forward with the newer applicants lol
