Yeah it starts in two weeks. However there are already senior part timers that are now getting there 40hrs. They never took the hit. They did this before and it lasted about 3 weeks. Not expected to last

My friend was successful on his interview beginning of September. Then completed the background:VSC stage, but still has not had his references reached out.
I remember my references were contacted directly after successfully completing the interview process.
How long after your interview was references contacted?

References were contacted just last week. It took about 10 weeks from VSC to references being contacted. It can vary since another agency does the security clearance. Just wondering how long it takes from reference check to job offer.

For me it was about 6 weeks once everything was done to conditional offer letter.

Our wages are determined by our contract. The only people that would have their wages increased are people that are currently making minimum wage.

It’s not a matter of “bringing people’s hours down,” as you put it. The fact of that matter is that they are hiring people at a faster rate than ever. This means that there are substantially more people to divide the hours and overtime amongst. More new recruits = less hours for each fixed term employee & less OT for all.
There is nothing that should lead one to believe that this position is full time. In fact, the opposite is quite clearly stated when signing up for this job. If full time hours and “plenty of overtime” were a sure thing, they wouldn’t have you sign a contract stating hours are not guaranteed.

I understand we “signed a contract” but we all get into the job with the representation that “don’t worry; there’s going to be plenty of overtime, you’ll always be scheduled for 40 hours”. The economy has gotten worse and they decide they want to all of a sudden bring people’s hours down? No one went into this thinking this is going to be their part time job. They went to it thinking it’s going to be full time, and starting off the position, it was full time training, and full time with the hours they were given. I understand if they don’t want to give overtime. But to cut hours to part time hours, that’s unfair. They are going to lose good employees to other jobs that actually have full time hours available.

Are all new recruits being switched to part time? Including the ones that have already been hired and currently working as temp for a few months? Has this happened in the past? Why the change?

All recruits are hired as fixed term contract and no hours are guaranteed , it is in the contract you sign when you are hired. Up to now there had been 40 hrs given but things are changing depending where you are at I am sure.
