Condolences to all his friends, family and colleagues from all the staff and members of Blue Line Magazine forums.

If I remember correctly, Andrew Harnett was formerly Military Police. I believe he was on the Thunderbird Challenge team and was in my pistol course. Outstanding officer.

Rest in Peace.

I thought they said that as long as someone applied before the end of last year it is possible to be selected for a class in 2021.

Is this the only class this year? Or if you didn't hear back from them then you missed it for this year? Thanks

Go to the "Calgary Police Service - Recruiting push" heading and read what the Inspector says.

Anyone have a rough estimate what the average timeline is from submitting an application to getting a file manager lately?

OK good to know. I should expect a file manager myself in a week or 2.

Calgary Police Defferal

Postby ScotFz09 » Mon May 31, 2021 8:31 pm

Hey Guys,

I got the call today that I was unsuccessful in my Psychological evaluation but that's as much of an explanation as I got. It's really eating at me, so I thought maybe someone here could or would shine some light so to speak. I have about a year and a half invested in this process as it is and my deferral is 6 months. There really way nothing that stood out to me in the exam, I'm a pretty regular guy etc etc, any clarity would do wonders for my brain. Thanks!

Hello there,
I’m in the same boat as you. Got the 6 month deferral at psych stage. Not sure what to do as there isn’t anything to prep for the exam.

Psych evals are a crap shoot (for lack of a better word). One agency/psychologist will give you a bad recommendation, then the other will pass you with flying colors. Don't think too much about it, 6 months is really nothing.

Also heads up I think the 6 will chew you out for making this its own thread instead of using the main Calgary Police Thread.

Good day Sir,
Has there been any conversations in regards to DEO classes for the upcoming year(s)?

Thank you

WE ARE HIRING: It is official - we are on a major push to hire new police officers. We are looking applicants from all walks of life that have strong personal values that align to those of the Calgary Police Service and who demonstrate strong ethical decision making. We are hiring between 132-156 officers this year and expect this to be a multi-year push.

The CPS has seven core values: Respect, Honesty, Compassion, Courage, Fairness, Accountability and Integrity. The importance of having these traits cannot be stressed enough – nor can they be taught.

If you want to make our community a better place to live, work and play, we want to hear from you.

So basically if I get deferred for life in 6 months ill have slimmer chances to get on with another department? That sucks! Thanks for the reply.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm going to pm you, I would love to chat more about your experiences with the process.
