Re: Toronto Police Service
I'm hearing they filled out the Toronto class pretty fast this time around and people are starting to get fitness dates for December class. Anyone know if this is true?
Re: Toronto Police Service
Hi Yorkiee,
I believe the employee orientation before the start was done for the August class already and whoever left will be for the December class anyway, for my case particularly it has been over three months after psych interview and I never heard back from them, no deferral letter either. Fingers crossed that my file is sitting there to be assigned for background for Dec class.

Re: Toronto Police Service
They have started orientation but they are doing it in groups. My friend's orientation was 2 weeks ago and he said it was about 30 people and they were the first.hamidi11 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 20, 2023 11:17 amHi Yorkiee,

Re: Toronto Police Service
I know this is mainly a thread for TPS Police Constable, but I'm wondering if anyone has heard when the next TPS Special Constable class is supposed to start?
I was hearing around August or September.
The Special Constable thread is not very active, so I thought I'd try my luck here.
Thanks

Question for anyone who made an "internal transfer". Last year I applied and made it all the way past the Psych and was unfortunately rejected.
I applied to be a Special Constable and have been successful and will be starting in September.
Just looking to hear the experience of anyone who was a special or maybe in parking that made the switch. My plan is to eventually try Constable agian.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Toronto Police Service
Almost all of them do. Most become PC after 2-3 years. Money is spent training DSC/Booker/courts so they don’t tend to let you go that quick. With that said, specials play a very helpful role and I do thank them for it. Your time as special carries over PC.asdmatt wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2023 10:44 pmQuestion for anyone who made an "internal transfer". Re: Toronto Police Service
Hello,
Quick Introduction. I Joined the Toronto Police Service in 2014 and was a Blueline Forum lurker during my application process so I am reaching out to hopefully assist people with application questions that they have. I am currently also a part of Toronto Police Recruiting. In my signature are different ways that you can reach me.
If it is a question that could assist lurkers or members in general than please ask it here. If it is slightly more personal of a question then reach out to me through email.
Final thing though, please do not ask me about the status of your application. If you haven't been provided with a deferral then that means that your file is still active (Remains active for about a year from the application). Even if you are in the final step and have been given radio silence your file is still active. All it means is that as the classes get compiled they are weighing your application against others and are distributing offers based on whomever has the more competitive total package
Good Luck

Here's my timeline so far.
Applied - 2023-07-15
Shuttle Run - 2023-08-10
LFI/ECI - 2023-08-28
PBQ/LFI - 2023-08-29

As you can see, things move fast after your shuttle run so be ready. Keep your fitness up!

Re: Toronto Police Service
How small would you consider petite?
In general I have seen individuals of small stature be successful but even though they were smaller they were also strong.
I honestly believe that if you are short it won't matter because you still have the ability to gain strength and get stronger. If you are both short and also light and not strong then certain portions of the test will forever be a problem (handcuff machine for chest and the final dummy drag).
My best suggestion would be for you to build your overall strength. I honestly believe that the test is doable for all body types with hard enough training.

Re: Toronto Police Service
For all those who got hired, I'm not sure if you guys still check this thread. But I am curious, how do you guys find being a police officer with TPS? Was it everything you expected? What are the pros and cons?
Re: Toronto Police Service
It's a challenge if you want to work for TPS. Morale is low, shortages at the front line, overworked and thankless. You might get a few people here and there that will thank you. Pros is if you care about the money there's plenty of paid duties and call backs, along with the experience of working in the city. If your young work in the core, if your married with kids work mid town.
