Keep all your receipts. CSC will reimburse you for the cost of baggage (up to a set limit, though I admit I don't know off hand what that limit is. I think it's one bag.)

For those concerned with the amount of overtime currently available within the institutions...

Get through the hiring process and LEARN as much as you can through all stages of online and in person at CTP. Nail the practical skills. Know your Law & Policy. Make some friends and have a good time (be professional and don't get sent home early!) Get through the IMPORTANT things and learn how to be a knowledgeable officer who is an asset to your crew before concerning yourselves with the amount of potential overtime.

This career can certainly allow for some higher earning periods with varying available overtime. That being said, the time will come for you guys to make a few extra bucks. Just remember to maintain a work life balance and look after your mental health.

Remember too that lots of vacancies in the roster allowing for that overtime can bring forced overtime which is never fun for those who get ordered to stay....

I know If one gets 3 strikes at ctp they get evicted but still get to join another ctp directly but just wanna know if one can change the preferred institution (penitentiary) in this case or they get the invite for the same institution as before.

This is categorically incorrect, you dont fail 3 times then just lateral into another CTP. Make no mistakes, 3 strikes are 3 failures. As for the rest of your question ask recruiting.

No and no.

If you get 3 strikes you're done, you have to start the entire process over. Csc does not "back troop" like rcmp/policing services.

After you accept your CLO (which you have to do prior to going to CTP3 you cannot change your institution.

3 strikes and your out.

You have to start the process all over again from the beginning.

However, if I’m not mistaken, you may be able to get offered a different institution.

Someone from my CTP got Drumheller on a previous CTP before ours, they failed, they went for the PW instead of CX-01, and got offered a different institution.

I feel it would likely be the same if you went through the second time around. I doubt CSC would say “Nope! You’ve agreed to that institution the last time so that’s all you get!”

Thanks,
I got an invite for Jan 10th 2024 in PEI with a posting to Gravenhurst Ontario afterwards. I just got last week. So I imagine there should be more invites going out over the next few weeks.

Ive heard from other co-workers that PEI can get very cold during those training months. The firearms section of the training will be difficult due to the cold so bring warm base layers to go under your uniforms and some hand warmers since you cant use gloves when shooting. (I believe) Good luck to you all!
