For the people who have recieved troop offers. How long did it take to recieve an offer or know you were going to recieve one after your medical was complete? I had my medical this past Friday, and they also started contacting refrences that day as well.

I'm just wondering what I can somewhat expect when it comes to the timeline. Everything up to this point has been going at a quick pace(Applied in March), hopefully the pace continues.
With everything that is going on now (Surrey PS, Saskatchewan Marshall Service, Mass Casualty Commission, Alberta politics), and has gone on in the past, DEPOT could either be maxed beyond capacity or turned into storage, or the Force itself shut down like Airborne was.
In other words, a Cst currently on Field Training, and a Cadet that just got issued a bed at Club Fed could respond, but you could suddenly get an eMail, "Thanks, and all that, but no room for you ever."

Security clearance is the last step. After you get your SC, you might get offer letter within days but the troop could be months out. I hope this helps!

Question,
What are the options for me going to depot financially while having a family at home, wife and 2 little ones.
We have a mortgage various other bills/groceries that I pay a portion of that my partner would not be able to afford while I’m away for training.
What would be the best scenario for me to do

Well since it's a student/cadet program at a post secondary institution, you could get some student loans, although that won't exactly solve anything financially.

I wouldn't quit your day job in that scenario. Depot attrition rate is very high and anyone can get sent home for a variety of reasons as they are not classified as employees (cadets are students).

Did you apply to the last Federal Policing cohort (Federal Policing Recruit Development Program)? Sounds like that would have made more sense for you since it's about 3 months training with the regular Constable salary from day one of training. They will hire upfront for that one and pre post to Federal only. Even though it's brand new, I have a feeling they will have to fast track the recruiting to less than 6 months if they want everyone to start in January.

Ironically, the Union will fight the new initiatives even though it was the Union calling for modernization and increased faster recruiting.

The attrition rate isn't that high. If you work hard, pay attention and can handle rather basic tests, you should be fine.

We only lost a few people in my troop and they were all preventable

A student loan is probably your best bet. Do some math, and see if making the top rate for a cst will be worth the financial pain when you're only making $800 every 2 weeks

Depot attrition rate of approximately 20% is a conservative average and is expected to increase. Keep in mind that's with Depot running at 50% capacity with much smaller troops.

Depot has a maximum training capacity of 2,176 persons per year (68 troops with a maximum of 32 cadets per troop). Given Depot’s training capacity in past years, the RCMP planned to onboard on average 40 troops with 32 cadets per troop each year or about 1,280 cadets.

The RCMP’s attrition rate has also increased from 11% a decade ago to an average attrition rate of 19.8% today. The RCMP is also anticipating an increase in the attrition rate in future years and has been conservative in its future protected rate. This attrition rate, coupled with a decline in recruiting, compounds the challenge to meet future capacity needs.

Nationally, the RCMP has publicly stated it has a 2.1% (or 414 funded positions) hard vacancy rate for funded positions and an annual attrition rate of about 850 officers. These figures do not account for soft vacancies (sick leave, annual leave, training, family related leave), which would put the hard and soft vacancy rate at about 8%.

2021/2022 had 33 troops with 29 cadets average per troop. That means 782 graduates with 850 Annual Officer Attrition. Add another 414 hard vacancies and that's a net negative 482 officers a year. Current vacancies are already at 10-20% in some places and even higher 20-30% in Federal units.

2022/2023 projected 40 troops 24 average per trop with 770 graduates, with 850 annual attrition, 414 hard vacancies, negative 494 net.

None of this includes soft vacancies.

Obviously a new approach is needed to staff federal as Depot isn't working for that.

7 months is a long time not to have a job offer and not to make a living wage with little to no chance of anything specialized posting wise out of the gate.

I suspect in a few years the Depot training model will be phased out altogether, and already starting this year for Federal stream recruits. Less para-military making your bed, more adult learning scenario based.

Between fiscal year 2021-2022, the RCMP received 9,822 applications. When looking at the previous fiscal year, the RCMP had received 11,800 applications. This demonstrates an alarming decline of almost 17%. In addition, the RCMP is projecting an even further decline in applicants for this fiscal year.

NPF is spending lots of cash on social media campaigns and theatre advertisements. Saw an RCMP recruitment advertisement right before the Barbie movie. They seem to think getting a few thousand teenagers to apply will fix things -- just wait until the teenagers find out they have to fill out the Friends and Associates form plus all the other paperwork. At least they won't have to do a polygraph anymore.

But do you really think getting a few more thousand people to apply who didn't even go to university for example and had no real career, will make any difference when it comes to staffing specialized federal units in national security, foreign interference, and cyber? That's why they are splitting Federal from the main general duties Depot recruitment and training. It's not even clear how they can issue Secret and Top Secret Clearances to permanent residents who are not Canadian Citizens and then have them do federal work with US agencies. The FBI or any other federal agency in the USA like the Secret Service doesn't hire or issue classified clearances to non-citizens.

For fiscal year 2021-22 Depot onboarded 33 troops at reduced capacity, which will result in about 782 cadets after attrition. For fiscal year 2022-23, Depot is planning reduced capacity for all 40 troops, as they are currently challenged to fill the troops given the dwindling application rates.

Hi! I applied to the RCMP in May. Early Sept I did the poly. 2 weeks later, I was notified my application was concluded and I had to wait a year to reapply. I am newly diagnosed with ADHD and wasn’t medicated at the time. We spent the morning going through the RMAQ and 40 years of memories started to be recalled that I’d honestly not remembered til then. I was told I revealed numerous items not previously declared and they gave two examples (nothing even serious). When the poly started and I was told to just focus- my adhd brain went off the rails! I had a flash of a memory for one question that I know came out ad a lie even though I’d disclosed it and that made my brain spiral because I knew it screwed up the test. I was completely honest and it made me so nervous that I didn’t want to screw up the poly. At the RMAQ interview- a tech issue resulted in only an audio and no video - not sure if video would’ve triggered memories.
Is there any recourse to contest the outcome and get an earlier opportunity to apply? My psychiatrist who diagnosed me, offered a letter about the diagnosis and not being medicated during the poly.
Anything?
Sharing so much personal details in public forum ...
Are you medicated usually (to function daily) for this diagnosed condition ?
Are you sure this condition is acceptable and will allow you to pass the Psychological exam ?

Any recourse to contest, not sure, email the HR to ask, they are possibly mandated to tell you if there's a way.
Honestly, if it was me, based on what yourself described above, will give you 5 years deferral ;)

I got notification that I have deferred for 5 years, I will be in my late 40s by the time I can even attempt to apply again. I would have to re-write the written test, do my hearing and vision test all over again. I felt that the reasons provided in my deferral were not adequate and the deferral duration is pretty extreme. In my polygraph exam the interview asked me to tell him anything on my mind so I have a clear mind and I told him stuff I was thinking about that would possibly cost me that interview and it was just stuff I was think I may have done or was thinking but not actually did. They used this honesty to defer me for 5 years. I was crushed, and attempt to get clarification and explain myself fell on deaf ears. I can just accept this which I have done but I also believe that this deferral duration is so punitive to stop me from ever working in a Career that means something to me. They asked for honesty and I gave honesty, nothing that involves drugs, violence or anything that hurts anyone but they still denied me a chance to make a difference. If anyone has a idea of how I can appeal this decision or possible be heard, it would be very helpful.
Take it like a man, as they say, and move on. I recall a story of someone that was 52 when started as Police officer. So everything is possible. Just do not count on it to happen and as your only option in life.

With all the talk about cities moving away from the RCMP, what would actually happen to the RCMP officers working in these locations? I have just applied but am wondering if a person should maybe focus on municipal forces if that’s where the future is. Any input, thoughts or comments? Would like to hear others opinions.

If you get to DEPOT, successfully graduate, accept your first and subsequent postings, and are in IF AND / OR WHEN some or all of the 8 Provinces and many Municipalities that have Contracts choose to form or re-form their own PS, THEN you AND any significant other have a decision to make: patch-over or stay?
Do you / they prefer to:
- stay in the Prov of your Div and / or Mun of your posting?
- be in another Prov or another Mun?
A lot easier to get hired with your DEPOT club stamp on the back of your sweaty hand.
How much pension can you buy with the Prov or Mun?
Do you want to maintain that bison tattoo on your rump and go Federal?
Would you rather just keep or get a real-job?
Contracts have a 2 year divorce clause, and, as always, the kids suffer the most when Dad & Mom, or Mom & Mom, or Dad & Dad, or Whatever & Whatever, split the sheets.

Regarding DEPOT training attrition, Recruits or Cadets have washed-out as early as the 1st footfall upon the unholy grounds between Dewdney & 11th Aves and the Mighty Wascana & McCarthy Blvd, because they only then realized the level of homesickness they were not able to stomach.
Atlantic Region hopefuls sometimes go there in the HOPES of their name being on a dart that lands on that Region when Shafting & Impersonal has the trasfer-decision party, but when said pointy-thingy hits the Prairies or BC, then they take their DEPOT Certificate, present it to their home PS, get a red-striped pair of pants, and heave a sigh of relief.
I gonged an applicant for a history of very poor past relationship decisions, was over-ruled by Recruiting, yet then they turned in their papers when they did not like their posting, and went on with real lives.
Think long and deeply before even putting in for that horsehide ticket to Pile O'Bones.

Well it's official (sort of), RECs have arrived (almost).

In 2023-24, the RCMP will:
finalize the implementation plan to support a national roll-out of Recruitment Evaluation Centres, where candidates will be assessed on modern characteristics and attributes through a number of simulations, exercises, fitness testing, and interviews in a face-to-face environment;

Recruitment Modernization
In 2022-23, the RCMP established a dedicated Recruitment Modernization team to focus on modernizing its recruitment and retention models and approaches through a number of initiatives. This will ensure the RCMP is recruiting individuals who have the balance of characteristics, attributes, and diversity of identity and experience to be successful modern-day police officers.

The launch of the Recruitment Evaluation Centres is a key initiative for the RCMP to facilitate the assessment of candidates on modernized characteristics and attributes through simulations, exercises, fitness testing and interviews, in a face-to-face environment. In 2023-24, the RCMP Recruitment Modernization team will finalize an implementation plan to support a nationwide roll-out of these centres

Source: https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/corporate-or ... el-eng.htm

But wait, there's more, for the Federal recruiting process there is a requirement to attend a 3-day Recruitment Evaluation Centre (REC) in Ottawa in September 2023.

This is going to turn into a big fail by adding 2-3 day in person steps right before a big COVID fall resurgence plus cold/flu season. And since no expenses will be covered, who can afford to fly across the country for 2-3 days at a time on little notice?

No mention of RFI anymore so I wonder if it's part of the 3 day REC for the Federal Process or combined with some other new behavioural assessments. Combined with the new physical fitness test which looks a lot harder than the PARE strength wise, I am willing to bet a huge drop is coming in the number of applicants who get to the end of the process.

They are starting to sound a lot like the Canadian Forces.
New online assessment is very similar to CFAT in design.
New fitness test is very similar to FORCE Evaluation.
The 2-3 day REC is very similar to the Military Police assessment.

Guess who else is having huge recruitment issues? The Canadian Forces because of their inflexible process.

So they add a bunch more in person steps, yet only require high school graduation.

"Following the initial screening, eligible candidates will complete career orientation and aptitude assessment at a Military Police Assessment Centre to ensure that you have a realistic view of the Military Police occupation and the potential to succeed."

Source: https://forces.ca/en/career/military-police/

But even the Canadian Forces has higher requirements to apply:
The minimum required education to apply for this position is graduation from an approved program at a post-secondary institution. For a list of approved programs, please contact your local recruiter.

"it is a very competitive process, lasting 3/4 days, where you undergo interviews, scenarios, tests and other screening in order to ensure that the branch has first-class entrants"

"The new MPAC was implemented in May 2002, and utilizes a number of tools such as a group dynamics exercise, a role-play, a structured interview, a background/integrity interview, and a skills test. The centre is set up so that every MP competency is tapped at least twice, each time using a different method. The MPOAC was introduced in October 2002. It, too, utilizes tools including a group dynamics exercise, two role-plays, a structured interview, a background/integrity interview, a management issues exercise, and an
in-basket exercise."

So the Canadian Forces copied the RCMP which is now copying the Canadian Forces.

TLDR: Recruitment Evaluation Centres (REC) = Military Police Assessment Centre (MPAC)
