How long does it take before you can go full time ? Do OT hours count as time in?
"Do OT hours count as time in?"
Unfortunately, OT hours do not count as your seniority towards your permanent full time position. In every week, only your first 40 hours count.

"How long does it take before you can go full time ?"
It is really various from institution to institution, one could take you 10 years, the other may take you just a year or two. It is also various from time to time. It is likely to take 5 years for casuals to become a full-timer at OCDC (just spoke to my former colleague who still works there and confirmed with him). It is definitely much quicker in TSDC.
Is there a staff gym at OCDC?

Yes, there is one for staff use. For the 12-hour day shift, each CO has two 45 minutes meal break, some of them use their 45 minutes meal break for gym. For night shift, staff member can use the gym during their 1 hour meal break.

The topic of the gym is in discussion management is trying to close it permanently due to cross-contamination.

“Close it permanently”? I am sure staff member won’t be happy about that.

Our on-site gym also closed due to the pandemic. Don’t know how much longer it will remain closed.

I'm in the same boat as you right now. Finished my neo in mid-March. Did anyone receive an offer lately?
Have either of you heard anything either way yet?

Finished my NEO December 8th. Got an offer last Tuesday (April 20th).

Every applicant is different, but from what I’ve been told most are looking at between 8-11 months from start of the application to offer of employment.
Congrats Calder40. It seems you are the one in this forum so far who takes most processing time of almost 4 and a half months, from finishing your last test as NEO on 8 Dec to getting the offer on 20 Apr. Since most of your peers who finished the last test in December last year got the offer in February this year, shall I have the working location(s) you chose? I just speculate the processing time might be aligned with the requirement of the location. Thank you!

Hello all,

currently waiting on my NEO test to be sent after my VSC. Is there a specific date that my fitco should be completed or it is simply before COTA?

Also,

Once you begin at one of the Toronto facilities as a CO 1, how many hours can you be expected to get during you part time probationary period? Can you expect to reach 40 hours weekly?

At the Toronto facilities you will receive 40 hours right off the hop, every week. That's not a problem. If for some reason you are not scheduled for 40 for a particular week, all you have to do is let the Shift IC (sergeant in charge of the shift) and they will fill the void to make sure you get your 40. When I was a casual, that happened to me once (I got scheduled for 13 hours that week) and by the end of the week I had my 40 plus 8 hours of overtime. Don't sweat it. If you'll be serving in Toronto, you'll be fine.
