Load Carrying Vest vs Hi-Vis Vets

Postby ABFarmer » Sun Apr 16, 2023 12:54 am

Good day,

Our agency is phasing in load-carrying vests for every members. Those who have received it have already been taking a load off their belts by moving some of the gears on their vests, as designed.

That being said, our agency also mandates the wearing of hi-vis vests for traffic or during community deployments of large scale. The hi-vis vests are really awkward to wear over the load-carrying vest. Done up, it prevents access to gear; left undone, it looks sloppy and flaps in the wind.

I’m curious what other agencies with external load-bearing vests in those instances?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Just wear an internal vest and not look like you are jumping into Kandahar with a million pouches covering every inch of molle there is....... that way you can close your hiviz. What district are you in?

Wish I could… my agency only issues external vests with Molle. And yes, Ironically, my current vest and setup isn’t far from the look/feel of my vest during my last military deployment.
