Proof they are a better choice than a patrol car?

Re: Police SUV's
My service has an entire fleet of tahoe , we don't drive anything else. While they are useful for distracted driving enforcement it only works well for seeing into cars and vehicle that are lower. A regular sized SUV or truck presents the same issue from the Tahoe which is not being able to see the drivers lap.
Some services have used city buses for cell phone enforcement and other unique non descript vehicles.
You never know where we will be watching from

Re: Police SUV's
This is only one of the many reasons I take the Explorer out on the road over the Taurus.
Re: Police SUV's
What's you opinion on Tahoe vs. Explorer?
Those two seem to be the most popular choices.

I've tried the Taurus, explorer, charger and durango... and out of those 4, the explorer feels the nicest, but the charger is more fun to drive

Re: Police SUV's
My department purchased around a half dozen Durangos for marked patrol and supervisor use. After just over a year and some months, the consensus is to return the fleet, as much as possible, to the Ford PI Utility (Explorer). The Durangos have performed less than was expected (in road work, reliability, ease of build).

I only wish they were V8's like OPP, and not these garbage weak engines
