WPFG 2009 in Vancouver

Postby LikethisFornow » Mon Aug 03, 2009 12:37 am

anyone/many here competing at the world police & fire games in vancouver right now? just curious... today was our first day for hockey and it was a blast. meeting a ton of great people from all over the place! even if you're in town but are not competing, i'd recommend heading down to the venues to see some great athletes/sports/matches, support the participants, and meet all kinds of amazing people. oh yeah, don't forget the beer gardens after hockey too... :) next games in 2011, NYC, yeah baby! http://www.2009wpfg.ca for all the info on the vancouver goings-on if you're interested.

I'd compete if they had a submission grappling event....but they don't.

The Can Am Police and Fire games have sub grappling, so I'm hoping to attend that in Ohio next year.

Have a coworker at the WPFG games right now, though. Beware of a petite Indian woman competing in powerlifting...

There's lots of athletes walking around town. Met lots of athletes from all over the world. Great people. I think I'm going to go to some the events on my days off.

oops, it's 2011, not next year. my typo, i meant to say "next one," so i edited my post above to say 2011 now. they run every two years, so i guess that gives you a little extra time to organize things  sorry 'bout that...

I was there for first three days doing security. Lots of fun. Only 'incident' while I was there was a woman going into labour at one of the venues.

My soccer team has been eliminated. My hockey team goes for bronze tomorrow. :boxer:

anyone aware of the gold medal game results for hockey yet? all the games should be done, but no results for finals yet on the pointstreak.com site for it.

negative. you'll notice it only goes up to and includes the bronze medal games. the gold/silver game results are nowhere to be seen still. believe me, i've checked everywhere and still nothing yet. bizarre.

EDIT: OK, FINALLY UP at http://www.pointstreak.com/en/players/p ... sonid=4279

congrats to all for a great WPFG.
