Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I just want to apologize for taking so much time off the boards. This community has been a great resource and really helped me with the application, especially with the uncertainty about covid and the delays that caused. I really appreciate it. I'm proud of how I did in selection, but a bit disappoi...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Now that the medical and psych are done, it's back to waiting here in Ontario. I feel much better about the wait in between steps than a year ago, I think Covid has really put patience in perspective.

Is the general rule of thumb with the psych and medical that no news is good news?

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

It will definitely come up. I know I was asked about marijuana and alcohol use both prior to and after legalization and under and of age, respectively. I was sweating bullets but my interviewer said something pretty helpful: The RCMP does not expect perfection but integrity. That really helped me fe...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Do the final stages move as quickly as the CAF where you swear in and are on a bus two weeks later? That was so exciting when I was 18 but now that I actually worry about forwarding mail, getting everything cleaned and organized to go in storage and if I should take the car out west or not, there's ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

Very excited to have completed the Polygraph in Ontario. I'd been looking forward to it for months as it was scheduled for February and of course moved as things locked down. Hopefully this means that Ontario files are on the march again and we're drawing closer to the finish line. What an experience.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I'm waiting for the Medical, Psych and Poly. I'm guessing a large part of the delay is because of COVID. Ontario is starting to reopen so fingers crossed.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

The update this morning, while worrying, was understandable: Due to the evolving global COVID-19 situation, NRPC offices will be closed until March 30th at the earliest. Emails will not be monitored or responded to until the office is re-opened. Files will be reviewed upon return to the office and a...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

In hindsight, I was lucky enough to get my RFI in right before the public health crisis. Based on the happenings over at DND, I think a lot of people would be surprised by just how much can be done working from home on the civil service side of the RCMP so don't despair. Think of this as an opportun...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

If you're still in the CAF, I was able to get the base surgeon to approve physical eye surgery as opposed to lasik which kept me off category and made the RCMP happy to boot.

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

I'm very happy with how things have been moving along in the new year. I have a suitability interview coming up and Regina has done a great job keeping me updated by email. It's still a somewhat opaque process but the communication is much better than the CAF. I suppose I'll dig up my service record...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

WRT medical, is the RCMP able to pull CAF medical records or would we have to order them from the CAF and provide them to the Medical Officer?

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

When did you apply online and when did you receive that email. Nope, I wouldn't be concerned, it means you're moving forward! That's a relief! I applied 20 JUL 19. When I joined the CAF a decade ago, it was all pen and paper and you had to line up at the recruiter's on 1 April for the start of the ...

Re: RCMP APPLICANT GENERAL CHIT CHAT

After several routine messages along the line of This is to inform you that your application has been recommended to proceed to the next stage of the RCMP Police Officer recruiting process. You will be contacted as your application continues through the process. The most recent email I received stat...

Re: RCMP marriage to a DND member

Have either of you contacted NPF yet? That's a good idea. I'll do that. I didn't want to rock the boat too early on because I know the first thing you agree to is to be posted anywhere, and I'm on board with that. If the stupidity is issuing Ptes DUIs instead of being responsible for said Ptes, it ...

Re: RCMP marriage to a DND member

I'm wondering about this as well. My spouse is RCN in Esquimalt and I'm in the process of releasing from the CAF and applying for the RCMP in NCR. I've heard that BC is all hands on deck for the RCMP but I was wondering if I would be able to ask for a posting to the island?
