Re: BC Corrections

I am currently working as a provincial correctional officer in another jurisdiction and thinking of relocating to BC. Consider the high cost of living in BC and relative lower wage, OT seems to be a MUST to me. What could be the likehood of getting OT shifts in BC? Thanks a bunch in advanced. There...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

Hey all, Are there any EPS recruiters or active members on here that would be willing to PM? I have a few "skeleton in the closet" questions that I'm losing sleep over and it would be very helpful if I could discuss this with someone without emailing recruiting directly, etc. I know I'm n...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

Wow! I got the call today at 1606 hrs, I'm still in shock that I got into RTC 140! Over a decade of hard work has paid off, never thought my dream would become a reality! For those of you that are still aiming for your goals of becoming a police officer, don't give up, I've been rejected since 2012...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement guys! I have a pretty good feeling training is going to be a real bagdrive. You have no idea haha. Follow allbran's advice though, keep a good attitude and work hard and you'll be fine. I don't know what your fitness level is at right now but make sure yo...

Re: BC Corrections

Be mindful of the amount of hours guaranteed to you to start. Most centres start you off as a part time regular which means you're only guaranteed 35 hours every two weeks. How they schedule those 35 hours + is up to them. I.e. You can be on call... Full time is only 35 hours a week also (unless som...

Re: Edmonton Police Service Recruiting

The instructions are quite clear, they do state that the application paperwork must be filled out by hand and with a pen. Remember that they will be looking at your penmanship, spelling, and grammar so neatness counts. Take your time there is lots to go through. Another tip, if they don't otherwise...

Re: BC Municipal Police Departments

Don't leave us hanging... what did you get deferred for? Not going to share anymore, I had a bunch of people PM me when it happened. Im embarrassed by it now with how close I was with the RCMP at the time. Had a similar situation. Was even told to pick a new career because no one would hire me. Too...

Re: Question about Law enforcement officer and Peace officer

CO's are peace officers. While on duty, you investigate and enforce administrative law through the centre you work in and while off grounds, (potentially) have powers of arrest etc. Depending on your province and governing legislation. In BC, you had full peace officer authority in the execution of ...
