Re: Calgary Police Service

So, for what it's worth for any prospective applicants: The new city budget only removed the 60 GROWTH positions. So we are keeping our current maximum authorized strength (roughly 2,110 sworn officers as per the 2019-2022 Service Action Plan (https://www.calgary.ca/content/dam/www/cps/documents/bus...

Re: Calgary Police Service

Last update I heard: Classes already in are continuing. Modifications to the training program are happening but the higher powers think it’ll work. I have my doubts. Applicants in the process are basically on hold. Some of the testing can be conducted in locations that can conform to distancing rule...

Re: Calgary Police Service

Either of you two who did the A-PREP also done the PARE? Any comparisons you wanna make? which was harder? I passed the PARE a while back and my fitness has since improved. I might go do it again to see how much my time has improved. I have not done both, but the consensus across any of my peers wh...

Re: Calgary Police Service

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has a workout routine that they are using in preparation for academy? I do go to the gym and run 5km everyday as well as weight train. I am hoping someone may have a more specific training program inline with what we will be doing as I feel I am somewhat sporadi...

Re: Calgary Police Service

I am originally from the UK, been in Canada for 4 years. I had a UK police background check carried out for immigration purposes. Do I need to re do/re apply for another certificate prior to applying for CPS, or does the background check process by CPS cover the UK aspect? I’m trying to work out if...

Re: Calgary Police Service

Hello everyone, I was recently called from CPS to go forward in the process and have me scheduled for a few days since Im in Vancouver. Can anyone tell me what the best way to prepare for the physical A-prep test since there is no practice run being offered here locally. I do stay in shape by runni...

Re: What are my chances of being hired? (CPS)

I have recently began considering applying to the CPS, but doing so would require a significant career change, and so I am concerned about potentially wasting my time with the lengthy and time consuming hiring process. Some background: I am 23 years old and just finishing up a Bachelors of Manageme...

Re: How do I know policing is for me?

I have in my placements worked with persons of all age groups with different backgrounds (including youth with suicidal ideations, adults with mental health issues such as depression/anxiety, as well as others with substance abuse problems) which I think would be an asset. Generally correct, yup. I...

Re: Calgary Police Service

One more question. Any idea of how many class might be happening in 2018? 4 classes - 2 will be for the additional bodies allocated in the budget update with 2 to maintain attrition. First class Jan 22 (of course, subject to change, but that's what it is currently listed and what the injured/new re...

When during the week does selection normally happen?
Also does anyone have any idea when the first class might be?

January 22 is the word for the next class to go.

Re: Calgary Police Service

Budget increase officially approved by the City this evening. Look forward to the wheels in recruiting to start moving forward again - good luck to all the applicants!

Number from this CBC article (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/c ... -1.4425721) indicates there's 55ish recruit spots about to get filled.

Re: Calgary Police Service

So what typically happens with people in my position? Will I have to do anything over again in the process? What can I expect when hiring resumes? Is it simply still just waiting for the call? I don't have a good answer for you on this. I've never been around for a hiring freeze nor have any of the...
