Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Some just need to give it up and realize this isn't old corrections anymore. Lol... Yes, the only way to survive is to embrace the suck. An example of the "new" corrections... And don't take it as gospel, but... Just something I heard. We had an ICIT activation the other day... Team is moving up th...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I mean overall there's more good days than bad days for sure. If you come in thinking all of the staff is going to like you and be willing to help you out that unfortunately isn't always the case. New officers are always under a microscope and many officers just want to see the new guy fail and tal...

Thanks, everyone! My preferences were OCI, TSDC, TEDC. I was offered only TSDC.

OCI is still closed, so... I doubt anyone will be being offered a spot there in the foreseeable future

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

How long has CO3 been an artifact Lol... there hasn't been CO3's (Corporals) since... Hell, IIRC the early to mid 1980s and what happened to those who held CO3 positions? They went back to being CO2s. Corporals where sort of pseudo managers/supervisors... They were supervisors, but still in the uni...

I’ve been told by a retired CO that worked at both facilities that Hamilton is a much better place to go for a new CO.

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

I find this pretty ridiculous, where are we supposed to get printed t shirts printed this exact way. I feel like they should at least compensate for the items since we will have to purchase them. Im going to show up with a white t shirt with my last name written in sharpie, cheapest place I could f...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

Fill your boots if you want, but you'll last one DT class before you're told to go get them done properly. This is far from the most ridiculous thing about COTA. https://i.imgur.com/RFmGCNM.gif One DT class...? There are rules/policies against bullying and intimidation... 'Any guff over something t...

Re: Ontario Correctional Services

another issue is retaining these same people while they are still FXT, and then rolling them over, it should not happen, they are on contract; I'm no labour lawyer. I don't play one on TV, but... I'll float the notion that it's likely VERY difficult to just "not renew" a FXT contract.... It's a con...

Perhaps we ought to cull the population of hider managers and maybe we can have some joints that run like actual institutions. Then again why not just keep hiring part-time luggers grifting this sensitive, high-security job. Good idea, right?

PTSD is very often also cumulative and will develop over time after repeated exposures to traumatic events . This I don't have an issue with. It's the peopl...
