Alberta Sheriffs will not be hiring CVE officers as there is no longer a CVE branch. Filling vacant positions in the Highway Patrol includes lateral transfers, internal transfers and finally a public competition. Do not assume any education has to be related to law enforcement.

In any competition where the number of applicants exceeds the number being assessed....

Fish & Wildlife remains a distinct unit under the Sheriffs branch. (The name Conservation Officer was dropped within a few days and they remain as F & W officers)

CVE officers are part of the Highway Patrol, with the same job description + specialized commercial training.
