Re: What equipment do BC Peace/Correctional Officers carry?

About the taser thing, I have never heard any correctional officer carry taser now a day, but I heard that MB Correctional Service used to have tasers and stored them at upper management offices decays ago, but teasers were later removed from MB Correction after the “2007 YVR taser-to-death inciden...

Re: Corrections In Manitoba

Hey all, Has anyone here done their Correctional Officer/Juvenile Counsellor testing for competition #37071? I did mine in early February and will find out results end of March. Hoping to keep in touch over the process! While I've heard of people failing the last test (its more for mental suitabili...

Re: Applying to Correctional Service Canada

Nice to see CSC uses the probation period to weed out. Thats what its there for. Our provincial service really needs to grab a pair and use that period. Makes not sense why they would not as a dismissal then is pretty much unappealable, in theory. Cost spent on the requirement of the officer should ...

Hey!
What do BC correctional or peace officers carry on them?
Do they have guns or tasers?
During the interview its fine to ask if you get to carry a gun. Helps to follow it with finger motions while saying "pew pew"

Re: Corrections In Manitoba

COVID "in the facilities" has no effect on recruitment. Slight adjustment in the part that has recruits on the floor observing. That said for all practical purposes we've had no COVID for a few months now. Not stopping the powers that be from releasing people on TA's "Due to COVID" however. But its ...

Re: Hearing Test - Not Meeting Minimum Standards (OACP)

A someone with a hearing impaired child and having done the research and sat in on the audiologists end for many tests and being able to compare her results to what I see in my kid day to day I'd propose that if your doctor thinks audiology is pure crap, then he or she is actually pure crap as a doc...

Re: BC Corrections

Is BC Corrections still doing training? Also, does anyone know what the period for being clean and away from criminal activity is for BC Corrections? It doesn’t mention anywhere on the site or forums. I know that my Federal Training is on hold due to COVID-19. It will always be on a case by case ba...

Re: What Certifications Should I Look Into?

People get hired from fast food and delivery drivers with a degree in nothing but life. Some get hired with a number of degrees etc. Don't over think it. Present well and answer the interview questions well, don't "neglect" to mention stuff on your background, have some life experience, check a few ...

Re: Corrections In Manitoba

I'm going on a tour of Agassiz Youth Centre tomorrow and I just want to make sure that I'm a good fit for the role. I have training in mediation and further training in victim/offender mediation. ...
