Police services and ATS

Postby nothof60 » Sun Jul 08, 2018 10:54 pm

Curious to know if there are any police services in Ontario that do not require their applicants to have validated proof of the constable selection system by obtaining and providing a successful certificate of completion through ATS as a prerequisite to the application process? So of right now, I am only aware of one.

London Police Services does not require a valid ATS when applying. Only after you receive an interview and you are successful, you will need to have a valid ATS

I'm not 100% certain, but it seems the OACP website states: "Individuals seeking a career as a police officer in the Province of Ontario must successfully meet the requirements of the CSS." Is there a particular reason you're looking for a service that does not require the COR?

Hope this helps!

No. I've come across one service (AMPS) that does not require an applicant to be in possession of a valid certificate from ATS at any point during their recruitment process. The CSS still has to be met, however, they administer their own testing to satisfy this need. This had me thinking and wondering if they were the only service that was doing this...

Ontario and Quebec. Selected candidates attend opc and the opp academy. An equivalency test is taken for Quebec to gain PC status.

Hi, Everyone,

I have a question in relation to the ATS testing and the OPP/OPC. Since having the COR is no longer a requirement to apply to the OPP, I am wondering if an applicant is hired by the OPP without having their COR, does the applicant have to write/pass it at a later date during training at OPC?
I was speaking to a NAPS officer a while back and he stated that having the COR was a requirement to graduate from OPC. I'm not sure if he meant if it was a requirement to graduate OPC as a NAPS recruit or just graduating OPC in general. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you.

As of sept 2019, opc has reinstated the prep as the minimum physical requirement to pass. So, yes, as of today you must successfully complete the prep ( obstacle & shuttle run)while at opc to pass.

Hope this answers your Q.

Thanks! Do you know if it is only the PREP that was reinstated? My main concern is the PATI test. Math is not my strongest suit.

Its just the PREP and the cost of OPC that gone up.
