Hey Kittycat

I wrote both exams on the same day and had to drive over 3 hours to get there. As far as I know you have to be there in person otherwise how would they know that it was you who wrote the exams. I told the psychologist when I was finished that I had come from another city and he told me that because I had traveled over 300km I would be able to do the interview after everyone had finished, so I waited about 30min and he did the interview which lasted about ten min. I would email the psychologist when you get your date to explain how far you’re travelling. I would also speak to him/her in person on the day of the exam before you write just to confirm.

My next steps are in my signature, but everyone’s seems to be a bit different.
Thanks for your info!

Just wonder if I could choose any designated office within Canada?

I don't think the PARE will have any effect on when you get your pysch but I see your timeline is going pretty slow which sucks.. hopefully that changes for you! fingers crossed and good luck!

Yeah! I thought I would never been pulled out from the inventory since I submitted my app back in 2018 Feb! After I passed my interview I emailed to HR and I got this reply:

“Thank you for your reply. As we are treating a large volumes of psychological evaluation requests, we recommend completing your PARE at this time.”

Therefore I decided to go for PARE first~

It always amazes me how some people say PARE is OK to postpone till the end, while CBSA reminds about doing it very early in the process, even with the email about the Interview.

I did it early and all steps and progress was fast so far, may have to redo it, but will never see it as a loss anyway. Showing dedication to the process can’t be a bad thing.

No one really said doing it early is bad. It's just that a lot of people would rather not keep paying to get it done/redone, and some may have to travel far distances and not have the means to easily do that. Hearing and seeing so many applicants having to redo their PARE because of the long wait time, I can understand why people would rather do it later on in the process instead of very early.

Then again, there's some benefits to doing it early. If you fail, there's no pressure for you to get it done asap. If you have to redo it, you already know how the test is like and you'll be more ready.

As long as it's only required before the training, it really doesn't matter imo when people want to do their PARE test.

Couldn’t find anything touching on pay scales for FBs.

Can someone please explain what the difference between FB-03 Step 1 & Step 5 is? How would one move up the steps?

Based on years of service at that level with the agency. The only way you make FB-03 is by passing OIDP and being promoted to FB-03 where you'll start at step 1. 5 years later you'll be at step 5. Simple enough process.

Would it be advisable to do the PARE even if we haven't applied yet? I'm only asking because if we haven't applied, how would they know where to send it to? Or would they provide me with a document of successful completion and it would be up to me to submit it to recruitment upon their request during the selection process.

I'd wait. If you haven't even applied you're looking at at least 2 years probably. PARE will need to be redone. Also like you say, they won't have anyone to send it to. If you want to run it for practice, that's your time and money, but I would advise you to wait until you're instructed.
