Just wondering how often is Ontario accepting cadets from depot? Obviously odds are way lower to get in o division. But wondering around how many they take a year?
It has been said time and time again that if your only aspiration is to get to Ontario after depot, your best bet would be to apply to OPP or other local agencies. From what has been explained to me by members here in Ottawa is most members in O division are generally working in some sort of federal policing capacity AFTER years of experience as GD throughout Canada. My assumption with that information would be your chance of going back to Ontario after Depot would be less then 1%.

Thanks for telling me what has been said time and time again. Nowhere did I say I wanted to be placed in Ontario. Curious as to what formula or algorithm you used to calculate 1%? Was just wondering if actual statistics were taken from depot.

Good day Pete,

It’s more than reasonable that you would ask these questions as I’m sure day after day people ask questions without actually going through the motion to find the info themselves.

To answer your questions yes I am a police officer currently in Ontario.
I have read and looked through the RCMP website which did provide substantial information but no current pay scale 2019 and nothing in regards to incentives for experienced officers or why exactly so many are switching red for blue.
No I have not contacted my nearest recruitment centre yet as I want to research all avenues prior.
I have reached out to current RCMP officers I know (experienced and new).

The purpose of posting these questions is in hopes an officer who has recently switched from blue to red or red to blue would share some personal experience.

Thanks for your time Pete have a great day

Polygraph and being abused. If there is illegal activity I am sensitive about due to being the victim, is that taken into account? I want to join but I know there are area's I will react to in ways I cant control.

Hey there! That’s actually true, your chances of getting posted in Ontario are very low, the last few troops graduated from Depot I only know about one person that got O division, but thats because this person has some sort of experience in federal policing. The great thing about the RCMP is that you get to travel all over Canada and get tons of experience in GD while enjoying different provinces ! But like it was said before, if you are aiming in staying in Ontario better not apply for the RCMP. Good luck!

Hey guys,

I made it to the psyc interview stage, and then was not supported and my application was subsequently concluded. I took the same test (MMPI II + Firearms component) for another federal agency and passed it. I'm still in the running for THAT process but its not where my hearts at... Damn that red surge.. but anyways I am curious if you fail your psyc and reapply, do they keep your old psyc records on file? or do you start fresh?

Cheers,

Hey all,

I previously posted my RCMP applicant experience on March 7th in this thread and am looking for any additional insight or suggestions anyone might have.

I was deferred 5 years after the polygraph for "withholding information pertaining to past activities and activities". I vehemently denied it and went through any and all actions I could think of and was given to try to correct it. Needless to say I didn't get anywhere and didn't get any answers on specifics of the deferral. I kind of feel like collateral damage of an imperfect system.

Has anyone heard of this sort of thing happening to anyone else? If it was 1, 2 or even a 3 year deferral I would have let this go but the severity of it really has me baffled. Especially being given no information to go on.

Thanks.
Honestly just take it and move forward, I’ve been deferred 3 times, (I’ve been applying since 2012), and I kept coming back over and over again just improving, I didn’t challenge any decision, they saw my persistence and my improvements.

This is my 4th application and I’m happy to say I’m now just waiting for my security clearance.
Hats off to you. You're the kind of Mountie I want patrolling my streets.

Congratz!! I am still waiting for the golden call. Looking at your timeline, did you wait two month inbetween SC rec and the golden call? I am three weeks from SC rec and the wait is just sooooo hard.

What does the RCMP offer for experienced officers? Does the RCMP offer competitive rates, promotional opportunity, specialty units, higher priority for detachment choice or specialty pay for certain detachments?
What is the RCMP doing to retain officers?
