Got an email that for security clearance I have to provide police clearance certificate within 30 days from my home country as I have not been in Canada for 10 years or will be deferred for 6 months. Have anyone experienced the same ?

RCMP Cadet Training - Depot Life?

Postby Lmackey182 » Fri Apr 12, 2019 12:20 pm

After a very long process (approx. 2 years) ... I finally received the call! Troop 15 - July 28th.

Of course the initial reaction was excitement… but then reality & nervousness kicked in lol.

I’m a female, in relatively good shape … however I’m nervous when it comes to the PDT aspect, as I’ve never done any defensive/combat style training before. I was wondering if someone could share any advice on how to prepare for this (both mentally & physically)?

Once I arrive to depot, I had a few question concerning what life is like while being there…
1. How is the community life like, especially for females?
2. How long does it take to adjust/get into the routine of cadet life?
3. What is the living space like (what should you bring/not)?
4. What kind of things are you required to purchase while at depot, how much do you typically spend while being there)?
5. In your experience what was some of the hardest obstacles, and how did you overcome them?

This will be my first time in 27 years away from Ottawa longer than a 3 week period lol … so I am not sure what I should expect!

Received medical clearance today, it was a quiet 4 months waiting to hear back. Happy to say a new waiting game begins!

Hi Harman,

I went through this process recently. These are the steps I followed:
1. Had my fingers prints processed here in Canada according to RCMP guidelines;
2. Couriered my fingerprints, two passport photos and copy of my passport to my country of birth;
3. Asked my power-of-attorney (POA) to submit the fingerprints, passport copy and application to local authorities;
4. Instructed my POA to scan the completed police clearance and then courier the original;
5. Forwarded the scanned police clearance to my RCMP coordinator and retained original for my records.

Fortunately for me, this entire process took less than 30 days start to finish. Make sure you follow your coordinator's instruction carefully.

Hope this helps you with your process!

Cheers,
Thomas

Hey everyone! Another new guy here. Congratulations to everyone that is at or headed to Depot. For those in the process, it's a long wait and can be disheartening at times, but your time will come too!

Troop 13! I'll see you all there!

Is it January 27, 29, or another day ?
Just for curiosity.

Hi there,
I was wondering if you as a member could clarify a few things to me. I was
in troop 30 and my contract was terminated because i was struggling in lots
of areas, i can reapply in 6 months, but was wondering if my clearance will
still be valid?
Thank you,"

I doubt it.

Again, NO unsolicited PM or eMails to any me, VS, opp2, Ont. RCMP Recruiter, Depot Web, or Caroline - Dave Brown gets lonely, so if you wanna rap guns with him, shoot!

Going back through my PM, I just realized that, in almost 1.5 years, you STILL can't follow directions, as this was the 2nd time you did this to me!

Hello, I’d like to know if Surrey’s postings are often available to recruits?

Also, if there is anyone that has worked or is currently working there, would you mind sharing your thoughts on the place and what is expected of recruits who ends up going there.

Thanks you

Yes people get posted to Surrey.
I work there. I love it. What is expected is that you are competent, hard working and not a fat POS which is the same as every detachment you may get posted to if you complete Depot.
