Hi All

EDIT

There is no percentage passing mark really. What you need to pass is you have to score a minimum of 6/10 for the 4 competencies listed on the CBSA website. You could score 10/10 on 3 competencies and 5/10 on the 4th and that would be a fail or you score 6/10 on all 4 and pass.......so in reality percentages mean nothing and when people post their scores they are just averaging it out.

Hey guys,

Just a question to my fellow BSO's on this forum. On your Resume/CV, did you include your time at Rigaud in your 'Professional Experience'. I'm editing/updating my CV right now and it almost looks like I have a several-month gap in my job experience.

Also, is there anywhere online where I could find a well-articulated, succinct, point-form definition of the roles and tasks of a BSO? How did you guys describe the job on your resumes?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I’m super new to this forum just have read through the threads in the past but I am in the CBSA hiring process and I was wondering if anyone had an idea when the next intake might be? I am booked for my psych evaluation in April and then I’m assuming I will need to complete my medical and then security checks. Should I be expecting Riguad this year if I’m accepted?

Thank you for any information!

I can only speak from my experience but I received my security clearance in May and got my invite to Rigaud in June for Aug class. Again only my experience, it varies greatly for everyone.

I haven’t submitted any security papers yet, just have to do the Psych Evaluation and then do the follow up interview with them and wait for those results to see if I am successful. I was just curious how many intakes they take per year. I know it’s a waiting game but once you’re in you really have to be prepared for that email. I just was hoping to see if anyone had some insight if there’s a good chance I could be going to Riguad this year. I’ve heard with other applicants that the security check can take some time.

Thanks for the replies!

I received an email this week requesting me to book my medical evaluation! I'm really hoping that I get invited to the July intake but obviously it varies for everyone so I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

I have to say though one thing that is kinda annoying on this forum is that people keep asking for tips for OTEE. I was in the group with the first people who wrote it and in hindsight there's really nothing anyone could've told me about it that would've made it any easier (aside from the answers, which is unethical lol). Also I saw that some people said if you left questions unanswered then you fail the test, but my friend said they left about 5 unanswered and still passed with 36/40 so I don't think that's correct... Unless my friend was mistaken but they sounded pretty sure of it.

Is there often overtime available at ports?

I believe so, especially in the Prairies...

Hi All!

Does anyone possibly know the passing mark for OTEE? many people on this forum who passed said that they have 85% or just a "pass". I've been doing some test on the public service prep and getting around 70%. Please give me a scout if anyone knows!!
Sorry if you've already received a reply, but to pass the OTEE you need to get a 60% and above in all 4 categories. So the questions were all divided into 4 categories, and you need to get 60% + on each category to pass the OTEE

Applied: Nov 28, 2018
OTEE: Jan 8, 2019 [PASSED, Feb 1, 2019]
Interview: Jan 15, 2019 [PASSED, Feb 26, 2019]
Security: Feb 12, 2019

So, I collect knives and the last year or so, the CBSA has made it pretty difficult for knife collectors in Canada. There have been several instances where a Custom folding knife made in Canada, sold to a collector in the US, sold again to a collector back in canada have been seized at the border.

It kind of seems like the CBSA has made up it's own interpretation of the law in regards to folding knives, and for people in the knife collecting community it's made purchasing knives that would otherwise be perfectly legal to own/carry in Canada a bit of a gamble. Some of these knives can reach upwards of $2000

Is there any way to reconcile this?
