Wish the rest of that video was available, but I'm sure we all know how it turns out.

I love how they base all of their reasoning on the Magna Carta being the all encompassing piece of legislation

Personally, I don't have a problem with someone who wants to live as a "Freeman" so long as they move to a remote part of the country (i.e. never heard from or seen from again). Generally, I find these people are simply trying to skip out on taxes, but still want the benefits of living as a "slave".

My sentiments exactly. If the "Corporation" offends them so much, these blinkin' hippies should live as "free" men in the wilderness somewhere. Better yet, they should try living in about 90% of the countries in this world and push their freeman garbage. Good luck in Iran boys!

We had something similar happen to our Squad a few months back. My partner and I went to assist on the call. Driving with expired tags and no Ins. Funny thing is they had DL's?!?!?! When we rolled up on the scene one of the two investigating came over to our car and said sit in the car and don't get out. If you do, they will add you to their complaint against the EPS. I guess they said we had no right under COMMON Law to detain and tow their vehicle, they were free people. Well driving is a privilege, not a right!!! Sgt showed up and had to deal with them. The tow driver was stunned too. What's up with these people. They don't believe in the Charter of Rights until they think their rights have been obstructed......

Indeed. If they articulate (as that guy clearly did...) that they don't believe in police powers of arrest under the various federal/provincial Acts of Parliament, then it's not a stretch to figure out that they don't believe in attending court when required to do so.

I guess just making random beeping noises every time they start to speak would be out of the question? You know, like this:
Freeman says "You're denying me of my right to..." and as soon as he gets the first syllable out you start with a very loud "Beep-beep-beep-beep-beep!!" until he stops. Rinse and repeat.

I've read through their forum whenever I'm bored, it occasionally causes nosebleeds and random tourettes like outbursts, but provides the odd nugget of amusement.

These guys are not freemen, they're freeloaders. What I keep reading is not "I am no longer going to be bound by these laws, I am SURRENDERING my drivers licence", but rather "They took my licence away, but then I found out that I don't need one because driving is a right!". They don't want to pay taxes, but want to collect unemployment insurance and use the hospitals.

Nice work if you can find it.

Send him to show cause because he clearly won't show up for court if released on the road side and issued a PTA.

Why....why was his car not en route to the pound and his ass en route to the people pound at the end of that video? There was more than enough reason to haul him in. No one really wants to go to cells but they don't have a choice if their actions dictate so. What makes him any different? He can spout some BS about his "rights" being denied? I have a co-worker (who works in our parking department) who has dealt with these guys before. The ass hat went so far as to send a letter about how he refused to have his vehicle tagged or towed as it was his method of travel. He made reference to the magna carta and that he did not have to follow the rules set out by a crown corporation as he was not a member of said corporation. The letter was written in what looked like crayon on what could only be described as papyrus. It was funny as hell.

That's nothing compared to the greatest "freeman" on the land:

Question for you coppers out there, as I'm just a border guy. At the beginning of the video when the driver steps out of the vehicle and starts digging through his trunk, my first thought was "oh crap this isn't going to end well." A cop on a rural highway, by himself, with a guy pulled over who exits the vehicle and starts looking through his trunk. Looks dangerous to me. Maybe I watch too much cops shows from the USA.

My question: Would a cop not yell at the guy to stay in the car? Or at least tell him to step away from the car when he starts digging around in the trunk? Maybe I'm just paranoid.

I'm not too sure if discussing police officer safety and tactics is wise on an open forum.

Perhaps after numbnuts started his rambling, the officer decided that since this was all being recorded anyways, might as well just let the guy dig himself a bigger hole.
