RCMP Quebec applicants

Postby nicolas » Thu Sep 24, 2009 2:16 pm

Hi folks,
It could be nice to have a thread for the C's. So I start it !
I just wrote my RPAT (09/21) and I'm waiting for the results.
I'm also in the CBSA process ( everything done ... I'm waiting for a seat in Rigaud).
For those who had already pass eveything (depot included) do you know how they "manage" bilingual candidates ? Do they send more easily in bilingual provinces (as QC or NB) ?

Anyone else from the C division ?

CBSA
BSOT - passed 02/2008

RPAT - done 09/21/2009 - passed 12/29/2009

Yes, I'm also from C division and any recruiter you ask will tell you that being bilingual will not improve your chances of being posted east of Ontario.

There are currently two Francophone troops on the 2009/10 schedule. Troop scheduling is based on the available resources.

Thanks Depot_Web . Does it mean that 2 troops should be sent to depot before April 2010 ?
Is there any lack of francophone candidates ?

Congrats Quake_max. Hope everything goes well for your final revision.

If only two troops per year are sent to Depot I suggest you start working on your English language skills!

Are you trying to discourage me and the rest of candidates who are not proficient in English or what?

My recruiter told me they had problems finding french Instructors/facilitators hence the low number of french troops sent to depot.
Be aware of the high possibility that your first posting will be in an english speaking detachment. It is to my understanding that learning the job vocabulary/terminology in english will help tremendously in your first years as a PO.

I had a B for my second language evaluation. It was enough to apply for a BSO position.
The RCMP asks for candidates proficient in English or French and , good for me, I'm proficient in French !!
BTW, I totally agree with you Quake_Max. I've to improve my english. But my language skills are not the topic of this thread.

I was thinking the aim of this forum was to help each others but I was wrong. According to matt1786 I don't even deserve to go to the depot ...

Bonne chance!

oops ... sorry for the misunderstood matt   ! My mistake.
An english troop ? Could be an option (with, as you said, some work on my english skills). Thanks for the idea !
For now, I'm waiting for my RPAT results. I've time to think about it ;)
And good luck to you !

(If it's not private , why do you wait 6 months between the presentation and the RPAT ?)

Well, before I attended the presentation I was registered to write the RPAT in early August and after the presentation I learned a lot of new things that I had not previously been aware of. After speaking with a handful of recruiters and conducting some extensive research on the matter, I discovered that my best option would be to write the RPAT in January. There are a bunch of reasons why I decided to delay the RPAT, some personal, and some that I don't mind revealing. The two main reasons why I decided to postpone were: 1. I still have my probationary driver's license and 2. to take some time to get into better physical shape as well as strengthen my application.

Waiting a little longer really does not bother me, I'm one of the most patient persons you will ever meet! If all goes well I do not plan on attending Depot before the spring of 2011. :D
