I very much dislike the man as a politician, but I agree with Snowman....
Cancer is a terrible thing to have to go through, either as a victim or watching a loved one fight it...
I wish him nothing but the best of luck in fighting it. Hopefully he can beat this one as well.

saw a pic of him tonight, he does NOT look well at all. If I had to guess, I'd say he's probably on his way out.

You never know, we've known a couple of people with different cancers who looked absolutely awful at various points, and are still going strong 5+ years later. There are cancers that can be more or less invisible (until they're really advanced and it's too late) but if caught early and treated, the treatment itself can take a horrible toll and make you look and feel like crap.
He does look 10 years older than he did during the election campaign, though.

Wow. As much as he looked and sounded rough, it was reassuring to hear his determination - and you can see it in his eyes as well.
Get well soon Jack!

x2, I got the same impression from watching him. He DID look and sound rough but undeniably the determination is there.

i'd bet good money it's spread to his liver and he does not have long.

That was the first thing I thought of last night, hope not. May not like all of his political platform, but I think he is an honest hard working person and like anyone else having to deal with this terrible disease, just does not deserve to have this happen to him.
Good luck Jack, I hope you win your fight with cancer & you do not have to suffer very much in doing so. Heres to your health !

Re: Jack Layton
The biggest concern for any man being treated for prostate cancer is having it spread to the lymph nodes or bones.
Both are very common secondary infections.
I wish Jack a speedy recovery. When I saw him and heard his voice on TV I realized how a person's politics are not all that important.

Re: Jack Layton
He looks skeletal. A close family friend had prostate cancer that spread and he aged/lost weight as quickly as Mr Layton appears to have. I wish him a speedy recovery....I'm not a NDP supporter but I've always thought he seems like a decent guy. I don't wish it on anyone.
His skin looks "yellow" which is a symptom of jaundice....a side effect of liver cancer, so you may be bang on with that.

I hate his pinko commie leftist politics, but I always thought he seemed like a decent guy personally and would probably be fun to have a pint with.
I sincerely hope he fully recovers, but I fear he may not be long for this world. All the best to you, Jack, and I will pray you make a full recovery.

I wish Jack well, even though I personally despise his politics.
