Condolenses: Two Fire Fighters Killed Line-Of-Duty

Postby MentalHealthPO » Thu Mar 17, 2011 9:21 pm

Just wanted to state that two firefighters lost their lives tackling a blaze in a small Ontario community of Listewol. I think these are the first LODD deaths since last March also in Ontario. I have seen threads joking about what firefighters do but in this case these two fire fighters died doing the job they were paid to do.

Condolenses enroute.

Same with CF... we make jokes between the Army, Navy, Air force etc.... but at the end of the day, when we're standing on the ramp watching the body go into the plane its a member who died for his or her country regardless of uniform or trade.

I'm sure you guys in the Emergency services feel the same way...

Its a terrible loss for that community and for their families. My heart goes out to both.

Rest in Peace.

It always hits me more when you see the picture. When you can put a face to the name. That's always the difficult part.

I've seen a lot of deaths on and off duty reported on this forum.

Horrible news. As Protector24 said we all poke fun at firefighters, but in times like this we need to stand shoulder to shoulder. RIP

A volunteer firefighter from the Kingston area was kind enough to sit on the side of the 401 with my wife after she had a single vehicle airbag deployment accident in February.

Spent almost two hours with her from the time of the accident, until OPP and tow showed up.

Put himself at risk with the black ice conditions at the time, and he wasn't even on duty! He went above and beyond....

Lots of guys I work with are also volunteer firefighters, so this story hits close for a lot of reasons.

RIP, guys, and our family's prayers go out to the families of both men.
It's easier to be a result of the past, but more fun to be a cause of the future.
