I've done every screening and have all my requirements just waiting for an offer! How about you?

I have my RAIC appointment this week which will be the last thing I need to complete from my end, just waiting for an integrity interview to obtain my security clearance. Are you also applying to be at YVR?

I also received my conditional offer PAC region the same day as you did! Just want to ask have you completed or scheduled an integrity interview at all?

Hello All,
Applied for the SBSO program in August 2019, passed OTEE but failed the interview, very disappointed! Not sure how I could have answered any differently, when can I apply again?

Many thanks and good luck to all of you!

You will have to wait for next campaign summer 2021. Applications usually open in mid August but may differ for this year. All the best for future

Thank you for the response, I am 18, first year university studying Criminology, I guess I need some more life experiences.

Just sad because I had my heart set on this..... oh well.

@thomastrann

What is an integrity interview? I had an interview where they asked some questions after I did the OTEE?

If you have your heart set on this, use it as an opportunity to grow. Go volunteer, work hard, build good references. Most importantly, if you truly are intent on reapplying, and you know that you struggled with the interview responses, try remembering the questions and thinking of different answers. Research good responses and build your own.

18 is young. I was hired as a SBSO at 18, but I didn't really fit in well until 20-21. As a 23 year old now I see a lot of 18 year olds as needing to mature more. I'm not much older than you, and maybe the job helped mature me a bit, but I would have said the same thing about myself at 18 as I would about anyone else.

Don't stop growing/learning. Take any rejection/failure as a chance to grow.

All I'll say is be honest. You will be asked severely personal things, which will make or break your application. They know the answers, so best not to lie.

Are you sure an integrity interview is part of the SBSO process? I've been offered the job and I don't think i've done one.

I completely understand you're bummed. I've been applying to become a SBSO since 2015-2016 and only this year was I finally offered a position. I first applied at 18 and I'm going to be 23 when I start this summer, I've definitely matured more, developed more of a character and mentality to really want to do this than when I was 18. Nonetheless, my heart's been set since CEGEP to do this job and I'm now in my second to final year of university. So I'd say just keep applying, maybe also add a minor to your degree, they really like to see you're knowledgeable in criminology, psychology, sociology, law..everything helps!

Hello Everyone,

This forum is for Student Border Service Officer for upcoming year of summer 2020. We can discuss and track progress here.

Has anyone received any email from them after applying or invitation for any tests yet?
Hey guys,

Congrats on embarking on your CBSA journey. Happy to answer any questions anyone may have as I've been in your shoes (or should I say boots...) before.

Probably all being done at the same time. If you've submitted paperwork for security clearances, it's probably already happening. You'll either get an integrity interview, or you won't. Good luck on your CAT III

How long does it take from going from sbso to a full time bso? Just want to get a rough timeline! Thanks :)

Per my understanding of what I have gathered from research and other threads is that everyone is subject to an integrity interview which is necessary to obtain your secret clearance, typically towards the end of the process.
