2018 FSWEP - Student Border Services Officer

Postby thomastrann » Fri Nov 30, 2018 4:27 pm

Haven't seen a thread specifically for 2018, a lot of the information I've stumbled upon in the previous forum seems slightly outdated as I've been going through the process and seems there are some differences in the current screening process. Would be interested in finding out more about the rest of the screening process, just have been invited for an interview @ VIA.

Hey, congratulations! I was invited for my interview last week. By VIA, are you speaking of Vancouver?

Congrats to you as well, and yes my interview and the position is for Vancouver YVR when will you be going in for your interview? I also found it odd that they did not let us know our score on the exam, because I felt that it was not an easy one and super curious as to what I scored.

My interview is in a week! How about you?
And same, I wish I could know what sort of scores I got. I was expecting an email since they do that for the BSO applicants, but I guess all we will ever know is that we did good enough, LOL!
I wonder if it's appropriate to ask at the interview.

I actually received an email a few days ago specifying what I scored on each part of the exam, however I am beginning to feel slightly nervous about the interview which I will be attending exactly a week from today. Good luck to you!

Really? Did you request your scores or did they just send it themselves? I haven’t received any email like that :(
And good luck to you too!

In the same boat as you, my medical is next week, Ive got 3 finals next week as well. Im stressed out like you cant even imagine. Im assuming they check things like eyesight, hearing, motor responses and any underlying health issues like cardiovascular, respiratory etc..

After the medical it could take 2-4 months before getting a reply... I guess they go through the security clearance and see if the interview match up to the info they find.. The background check is also taken into consideration.

Ive got the security interview next week.. Hopefully everything should be smooth sailing.. Ill definitely keep you informed.. All the best to you!

Question! After you all sent back your CAT3 form, how long did it take you to get your medical exam booked? I just got notice of my security interview, but I haven't heard anything about my medical yet.

Hey guys!

Just wanna introduce myself.

I'm a prairie region applicant. I did my interview for the CBSA (Not the student posting) in December and quickly found out I failed my interview. Got 7/9 on the competencies so I know what to fix for the next process!

I ended up deciding to go back to college since the 2-year diploma I had wasn't worth very much in terms of backup plans while I wait for a LEO career.

So I figured since I was going back to school I should apply for the SBSO! This seems like an amazing opportunity! looking forward to chatting with all my fellow applicants. My interview is booked for January 16! Does anybody know if the SBSO interview is similar to the style of the CBSA?
