You will need a valid COR upon application or sworn in as a peace officer within the last 5 years with valid PIN upon hire (Special constable, police constable, correctional officer, CBSA, conservation etc.) MLEO and bylaw officers are not included in this exemption and are required to have a completed COR.

We are hiring classes of 32 per class. There will be three classes per year. We are attempting to reach 400 Special Constable by the end of the recruitment which is estimated by the end of 2020 at the earliest.

There is no written assessment any longer as that has been replaced by the ATS.

Upon review of your application an interview may be offered. The interview is with a panel of two interviewers normally by Sergeants or officers of higher rank.

If your interview is successful you may be called in for a TPS PBQ session where you fill in your background paperwork. Your background is then assessed by TPS BGI. An offer may be given prior to or after your clearance with TPS is received by TCHC.

All offers are conditional upon hired and shall be revoked immediately if the clearance returns as unsuccessful upon review by TPS. There is no appeal process for your application at this stage.
Out of curiosity, what is the reason to increase the number of Special Constable? Seems to be a pretty important increase.

I have an email from your HR department advising MLEO are included given that you can prove the appointment within the last 5 years.
I also know of a few current MLEOs who are in the BGI stage that haven’t been asked for ATS.

just curious, how long did it take for you to get an interview after submitting your application?

Has anyone heard for the May 2019 Intake? I know its posted for another 32 and another 32 should be hired for September. Just curious if offers have gone out. Just a heads up, last group of hires we started with 32 and are now down to 27. 2 Have moved on to GO/YRP while the others fell short in their background stages.

Advice to anyone with an offer or who is anticipating one with concerns: Try your best to either get an LOA of some kind. I left my career in corrections without getting my background settled but I had nothing really of concern. Met a few people who applied and have the concerns so I thought I would share.

Anyone on here that had their interview early March and did PBQ recently?
I had my interview on March 6, received an email on March 22 that I passed. My file was then sent to TPS for preliminary background check. I haven't heard from them since.
