Do police departments trade applications with fire departme?

Postby ML91 » Thu Sep 17, 2015 7:24 pm

Pretty much what the title says - do they trade applications amongst themselves? I'm thinking of applying to firefighter departments and want to know so they can all match.

I heard that police and fire departments trade applications and pbqs. I want to confirm if it's true or not?

For tango

Say for example someone applies to York then peel 6 months later and does a bpq at both. York and peel may chose to see that applicants pbq paperwork from the other department to compare. I have heard police departments and fire departments can exchange these as well - is that true? Sorry I should have been more specific in my original post!!

Please apply to the fire services.

They need a mascot.
If you do not have access to the private side please do not contact me. I do not give employment advice other than what is publicly posted.

It was a real simple question. No need to make such a big deal out of it but thanks for being such upstanding gentleman.

So if you're worried about inconsistencies between them, which were you planning on lying your face off to?

None - I forgot to mention a volunteer event that I did not add in my police apps. Thanks for your concern.

One of the reasons why departments don't trade applications is that the skill sets are different. To apply to be a firefighter, one needs to learn to barbeque and how to roof. You will be golden.

When a police service you applied for checks your facebook account and the see more than 22 selfies of you orking out at the gym, bbqing and wearing shirts with a logo representing a group in particular all the time, instead of putting your file in the special fax machine, they hand deliver it to the local fire hall, because it is determined that you would fit in better over there.

Bottom line, since no Municipal Police Service member has posted that her / his Agency DOES share Recruiting information with their sister / brother Municipal Fire & Rescue Service, it SEEMS that none do.
Certainly NOT the RCMP!
Most likely THAT is due to privacy concerns, plus Dave Brown's wise, learned and ever so gentle pointing-out of the skill-set differrentiation between F&RS versus their heroes in (mostly) blue (khaki grey for us spur-wearers, or green for the ones where poutine began).
It does help being clear in your post - if you are new...I have a special exemption, due to my advanced age and ruggedly handsome looks.
