Hi Everyone!

Thought I would bump this thread. Applied to BC Corrections in April. REACT test @home later this month. Anyone else apply?

I have a buddy who is applying - same thing, REACT test from home. He's trying to get into OCC (I used to work there, great centre) I'm a Sheriff now but I got to say, Corrections has a lot of great things going for it (cant beat that 4/4) and OT opportunities. Good luck!

Thank you. I'm looking forward to it cause there's a ton of opportunity within BC Corrections and since it's still Provincial, I could move into Sheriff or elsewhere, and I'm sure the experience I'd get from it and other things I do, would help me get into Police if I decide down the road.

Is BC Corrections still doing training? Also, does anyone know what the period for being clean and away from criminal activity is for BC Corrections? It doesn’t mention anywhere on the site or forums.

I know that my Federal Training is on hold due to COVID-19.

I have applied. Passed REACT and that’s it. Haven’t heard back from them. Do you think they are going to run COPAT? that’s why they are taking time?

Hi guys,

I have applied to BC Corrections back in Feb and I have got the conditional offer and the start date already if I have my security check and medical clear. So yes, they are still doing classes, but I was also told this is the last class before they hold off for COVID.

Normally, REACT and COPOT are done in the same week (if not on the same day), and then you have to submit your SSQ within the next week if you pass both of them. After that, if you are recommended, you will be contacted for the interview within the next month. That is the NORMAL timeline before the COVID pandemic, and so I am not sure what they will do with others who are still in the middle of the process. There is a timeline on your job application for your reference, and you can look at my timeline for the reference too, but even my timeline got delayed due to COVID.

With the province easing restrictions, I firmly believe that if training was to be postponed, it should not be for very long. That being said, it depends if we are prepared well for a second wave.

I completed my REACT on June 8th and this morning I had my SSQ form sitting in my inbox. Due to covid, I'm not holding my breath for the process to be quick for us.

At CSC, I was in Kingston in 6 months after submitting application but they were in dire need for officers. So I'm curious to see how it will be like for Provincial!

Good luck all!

Just noticed that the BC Corrections Job posting is closed. Are they no longer short officers or is it because of the COVID-19 pandemic they just shut it off?

It will always be on a case by case basis. There is no cut black and white answer. Though some jurisdiction might have a black and white period to be clean from illegal drugs.

I withdrew my app. I've got a tiny foot injury I want to fix before running the COPAT.

I've been advised the next posting for BC Corrections will be July 6th, as per recruiters.

Good luck to everyone this round!

That is unfortunate, but it is always best to take extra cautions. Hopefully you will recover soon and I will see you inside soon.

The instructor has told us the scheduling for new recruits have changed a lot, allowing recruits to have a better work-life balance.
