Also take a look at Competency Based Interviews, and look up the buzz words. That will do you wonders.

As for the Lie Detector, if you have nothing to hide it will blow over, I wouldn't even sweat it.. If you do maybe the sheriff's isn't for you anyways! :thumbsup:

There was a little news from reps on the 40 hour working group at the last Fraser Valley Local meeting. They shared feedback from AG ministry internal financial people about how to strengthen the case for an hours increase. There needs to be a "business case" is what they were told.
I'm not involved with the working group but some ideas that were discussed:
Show that it's cheaper to keep the people that you train by increasing the annual hours of work instead of continually hiring and training new people that go on to other agencies.
Alternatively you could show that the court system would be safer. If everyone assigned to court goes for lunch when court goes down are there enough staff to deal with situations that occur at lunch time? Very few BC Government workers get an hour for lunch (most are .5 of an hour). Pay people to stay on duty during lunch and you have more options.
Almost every day we call in people to start early and finish late. If we could get the stats on overtime that would help.
A 40 hour work week (or 37.5?) would be helpful by making our annual salary more competitive when compared to Municipal and Federal agencies.

The fact that the employer is willing to talk about it is a good step but we are talking more that $4,250,000.00 per year. It would also mean all other benefits would have to be adjusted:pension, sick days, vacation etc,. This would further increase the estimated cost.
It is far from certain how this will work out but we have nothing to lose by pushing this every chance we get.
