Ask A BC Sheriff
Re: Ask A BC Sheriff
On September 9th. I ran a few practice COPAT's at Redline in Langley. Afterwards, I help setup a SOPAT course and about 8 or 9 candidates showed up to run their official SOPAT's.
I don't know if that helps anyone for timeframe but... I also don't know how to end this post. Life finds a way..

Won’t be stopped, but will be one of the last classes for awhile, as I believe the sheriffs have reached there amount of deputies needed.Spitz42 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 1:33 amHello I am an applicant and I am in stage two. I sent all my documents and have all the requirements. I have not heard of any test date for the sopat or even anything from BC sheriffs at all.North_Strong92 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 29, 2020 1:17 amHey Team,
Just curious if any applicant successful in their SOPAT testing have been contacted for an interview?
Thanks
I called in about 2-3 weeks ago and was told to wait. I am wondering with the covid-19 cases getting higher in the province if the current BC sheriffs process is going to be stopped?

Re: Ask A BC Sheriff
Looks like the process is open again!
Does anyone know if I need the air brake test/endorsement for the class 4?
Also, I just did my PRK laser eye surgery last week. Since the closing date is mid December, can/should I apply anyways and wait out the three months while in the process?

Agent 000, you don't need air brakes for class four. Class four is just a higher license compared to the regular class five.AMS AGENT 000 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:21 pmLooks like the process is open again!

As for the laser eye surgery I am unsure of BCSS's exact requirements but the recruitment process takes a few months when I went through it. Thus if I were in your shoes I would apply now and inform the recruiters about it during your interview and medical.
Best of luck with your application.

No, I do not believe so. I considered the Sheriffs once upon a time while living in the Okanagan and do not recall any institutions in the Okanagan or Thompson-Nicola that did the SOPAT.
Some research indicates that hasn't changed...

Re: Ask A BC Sheriff
I think they take the PARE as an equivalent - might be easier to schedule. They're both very comparable in terms of difficulty (I've ran both multiple times)
Re: Ask A BC Sheriff
i believe we only accept a SOPAT at this time, but i could be wrong

Hey guys,
Just applied for SRT June class last week. Made it to stage two yesterday and just finished up with the typing eval, SSQ and stage two documents. Although I have to take CELPIP in a week and hoping to get a good writing score on that.

Has anyone heard back after their cvsa yet? Just waiting to hear about my security clearance results and book the medical. I know it takes a while though.

Agree.
Although I only ran for PARE in the past and have never run for SOPAT, but from the time frame and the component listed on SOPAT info sheet, SOPAT is apparently more harder compare PARE.

I've ran both POPAT and PARE. SOPAT will be easier as it doesn't have the mat and push/pull will be 30 lbs lighter.
