Good Evening guys,

Just an update I applied to Durham in October 2015. There was nothing until an e-mail in early February 2016 about coming to the PBQ two days later. A week later I received an e-mail about attending the ECI and LFI for the same week. Just wanted to give you guys a rough outline of the current timeline I'm going through!

Any tips or ideas what I can expect?? This is my first application process and still getting accustomed to things.

Anyone know what Durham's hiring process entails? Just wanted a brief synopsis before I embark on this journey.

Thanks!

The details of the hiring process should be on their website.

But in a nutshell, the process for services in Ontario is pretty similar and looks something like this:

Obtain your OACP certificate.
Apply to police service.
If selected by the service, step 1 will be a PBQ.
After the PBQ expect anywhere from 1-3 interviews, depending on the service.
Should your interviews be successful, you'll do a psychological test followed by an interview with a psychologist.
Medical exam and PIN fitness test.
Conditional offer.

The order may be slightly different from service to service. But that's essentially it.

For anyone who has applied recently and was successful through the process, what was your educational background?

I am a current university student, I am wondering if this could possible impede my chances as I can imagine that I may be competing against university graduates.

You're always competing with other university grads. Don't worry about the competition, just worry about yourself.

Good luck.

Does everyone get invited to the paperwork session? Or only those competitive enough?

Thanks for the information. I attended the paperwork session and have actually been invited in for the LFI and ECI this coming week.
