The Mounties are looking for a few good women.
The RCMP headquarters in Winnipeg was the scene of a noon-hour recruiting lunch to launch the careers of new female Mounties.
Their pitch: A career nowhere near ordinary.
Prospective police had a chance to meet current female officers and members from a variety of different specializations.
More than 31 per cent of people the RCMP enrolled between April 2012 and Jan. 31 were women, and the police force currently consists of 21 per cent women, officials say.
The RCMP currently has a goal of recruiting 35 per cent women for now, but officials hope to raise that objective to 50 per cent after about two years.
The force says it hopes that upwards of 30 per cent of its regular members will be women by the year 2025.
... For the Grammar Police, get off my back, I wasn't born here.
