Honestly, what drew you into policing?

As much as this forum examines the application process and requirements for various police services across canada, one question that gets overlooked is this : What attracted you to policing? I know the serving guys on the forum will tell you that the job is a lot different then media portrayals, but honestly, what made you apply for a job that requires a years long application process and detailed scrutany of every aspect of your life?

Is it the pay/benefits?
A desire to serve your community?
To protect the public and put criminals behind bars?
The desire to hold a position of trust and respect?
You like driving and being hands on?

Lets have some fun and be honest, guys and girls. What are you in it for?

I didn't want your typical 9-5 job sitting behind a desk doing the same thing day in and day out. Wanted something that would be more hands on and dynamic.
