Trying to apply anywhere really! just some help?

Postby lj77 » Wed Feb 15, 2012 6:34 pm

Hey everyone.
I have been trying to apply to be a police officer for some time now. I dont have police foundations but i have graduated from 2 college programs unrelated to law enforement in any way (electrical engineering technician and instrumentation technician). I do have my certificate of results from ATS and it is valid for the second for 3 years as of the end of NOV 2011. I am from northern ontario and one of the facts here are that you need to know someone or have played hockey to get employment in my city. almost a joke around town really. unfortunately for me i dont really know anyone within the force that can really do anything for me and i cant skate lol. but i am willing to work anywhere. i was just wondering if anyone had any tips or things that i can do to give me the slight edge on competition. If anyone also has any info on how to apply out of province that would be great to. I know that i spoke with someone at the victoria police service in BC but they said that they do not accept anything from ATS here in Ontario. I am 28 now and i feel that if i dont find something soon i dont think that the career that i have wanted my whole life will be in my reach. thanks so much anything would be a help.

Applying is quite simple. You fill out the application for the service you would like to work for. At this point you take the application and put it in the mailbox.

Whats with the 01 01? Is that binary code?

This is what people generally do that are serious about a career in policing:

- Stay out of trouble (Good friends)
- Work where you have contact with fucked up people
- Work where you have responsibility
- Do some volunteer work that supports community commitment
- Get an education and have a back up plan

Good Luck!

Start doing volunteer work. Join the auxiliary police program and gain exposure to what police officers do on a day to day basis to see if this is really the field you want to progress in. Good luck!

If you have your ATS COR, print out the application, fill it out, attached the required documents (check list, licenses, educational proofs etc) and mail/hand it in. The worst they can say is no. Then apply somewhere else.

There are 10 kinds of "secret Blue Line binary code / post whore" users: those that understand this joke, and those that don't.
