Calls shouldn't be this early it would be uncharacteristic of Hamilton. Opc class is jan so you may not hear anything until mid Dec... Hang in there.

Hey everyone,

I guess the intake numbers for January will depend on if the budget presented yesterday will be approved or not? Can anyone shine some light on this? Regardless, lets all stay positive :D

I believe rhe Fiscal yr is April to April so a budget approved will be for that time frame I'm guessing. Anyone complete their bg yet? Hoping for you all.

hey contrast2,

I am finished my BG and patiently waiting for the call! I am keeping my fingers crossed...shouldn't be too much longer (hopefully haha). Any word on numbers for the intake?

Hi everyone,

Does everyone get a home visit? I am finished my BG but I live 6 hours away (grew up in Hamilton before I moved away for university) so I do not know if someone would travel 6 hours to see me or how this would work?

Right from HPS Website (Recruiting Section):
Recruitment - Step 10
Background Check

If you are successful through the proceeding steps you may progress to the Background Investigation portion of the selection process. You and the references you provided regarding your character, work, and school will be contacted by a Background Investigator, who will conduct an extensive investigation into your education, employment and personal history. The investigation will include a detailed look at your records and documents in Ontario, Canada and, if necessary, other countries. The Background Investigator will also interview your neighbours and conduct a home visit. The average background takes about 40 hours of work to complete, and if you have lived, worked or traveled abroad it will take longer.

I believe the process is similar for most people.
Good Luck :alright:

Do your parents still live in Hamilton? I currently live out of town for university as well and for the service I'm in the process with, my BGI went to my parent's house for the visit as that is where I grew up and currently reside there in the summers.

Hope that helps,
