The budget concerns in terms of hiring are mainly for the constable role. There's more flexibility there.

Parking is a revenue stream for the city. It's a separate budget within TPS. They will never freeze that hiring. I guess I shouldn't say never. But it's very rare.

Just want to ask for clarification on how the background stage is done.

I passed the interview and have gone in and filled out the pre-background questionnaire. What comes after this? Does the bgi not start until I am contacted and informed that it is starting? Or am I currently in the background investigation and just waiting for (hopefully) a call with an offer of employment.

Hoping to be in the December class but haven't heard anything since going in for the background questionnaire..

I'm in the same boat as Kathryn above^
Quite disappointed 50+ are taken to background, how do they even narrow it down from there if your a perfect candidate and have excellent references etc, I've yet to be called either and by the sounds of it the calls have already been made.

No call. I suspect at this point that they cut the class size to a smaller number and the ones who will be n it already got calls, while the rest will be getting a rejection letter. Just speculating - it's never over till it's over..

Congrats to those getting the calls for December class. I was hired last class in April. Anyone from the Barrie/Alliston area let me know and we can try and arrange carpooling after training is over!

Has anyone received a rejection letter yet? I did my background stage in early October and I have not been contacted neither has my references. Was told I should know by mid October, I'm a little confused at this point. Congrats to those who have received offer of employment !

Has anyone noticed they are now requiring ATS testing for parking enforcement ? I'm guessing because of the number of applicants they get or is there another reason?

I think this became a requirement in 2015. Maybe 2014. It's probably for a variety of reasons. One being amount of applicants like you say. But it also shows a level of competence and fitness. They can weed out those applicants who can't pass the testing etc.

Special constable positions require ATS testing.

Good luck.
