I did paperwork with Durham a few months back. Be prepared to give detailed explanations for every ticket, arrest, interaction with police, school history, driving history, employment history, alcohol/drug use, etc.

Try to dig up as much of this information as you can beforehand and make sure you are not missing any tickets or charges you might have had in the past, as those will bite you in the ass later if you forget to mention them...

I did go with Durham last year and it was a great experience. The officers were very nice and easy to talk to. my experience was very positive and I would really want to work with them. That is the reason I did not apply anywhere else and waited the one year and reapply back with them. Good luck to all of you and all the best.

They are a good service, but they aren't hiring many people right now (if at all) due to the whole Nuclear Security contract expiring, at least thats my understanding.

When does Durham ever have a BIG class? Have they ever broken 20?

To answer your question yes they have. Last year they hired high numbers. One class was about 30 officers.

FYI as per Durham HR they are only hiring 5 officers for all of 2010 and that hiring is already done, spots were filled back in October. They said they doubt any other spots will open unless there are more retirements that are unexpected.
Opinions are my own and are not to reflect any views of my agency.

:dropjaw: 5 for all of 2010? Has anyone out there heard of supply and demand?

I just feel bad for the officers who are already on. I am not too certain of their work load but I know during the last working strike they had additional officers was a key issue.
