Hi blueline95,
I cant even imagine all the emotions that are running through you right now and I wish all the best in Rigaud. Know that there is plan and a purpose for you and you have been preparing for over two years for this very moment. Enjoy it , stay positive, and wish you a very successful training. You have many of us cheering for you!
Off topic maybe have you gotten a oitp email yet since your psych is coming up for renewal.
No OITP email for me yet.... I know my psych is coming up to two years in Feb 2020. All other steps are fulfilled at this point. Not sure if I should bug recruitment about it....
I would email them to ask for a status update. It seems like a invite is imminent for you. I’m not sure how they pick but my guess Is likely March or April intakes for us hopefully . I wish they let us know sooner so I can plan accordingly.

After 2.5 years of completing the application process, i am leaving for the college this Sunday.

This. SUNDAY.
CRAZY.

I have been nothing but a bundle of nerves and been studying tons (they give you material you need to know verbatim and a "good understanding" for other things before showing up at the college). I'm trying to be excited but im more so nervous. Have i studied enough? Am i fit enough? Will i understand the material quick enough? Will i pass the gun range even though i never shot a gun before?
It sucks knowing ive been so excited to finally get to this point, only to be leaving in less than a week and all im doing is questioning myself. Hoping im not the only one feeling this way!

Cheers to this new adventure and hoping i can pass this final step to get my dream job!

(rant over haha)
Few points I'll add here for you.
A good percentage of people going are just as nervous and anxious as you are. Aside from similar training programs, when was the last time you went away with a large group of people you don't know? You got this! You've worked as hard as you have for the 2.5 year process and got yourself here, give yourself a little credit. You're fit enough because they don't start off too crazy to begin with, you studied enough because you've asked questions, so you're committed to it. As for the gun range, the easiest people to teach are people who have never done it. People who have done it before sometimes have bad habits to break, some have good habits they just reinforce. When you're learning something brand new, you won't learn bad habits, especially on the Rigaud range.
I promise you that myself and probably 95% of people who went through Rigaud have felt, or are feeling the exact way you are. Enjoy your first week, settle in, and you'll be fine.

Good luck friend!

Quick question. When I went to get my fingerprints done, the commissionaire gave me a copy of the fingerprints, the consent to release info, and the proof of payment. She also told me I'm suppose to send all of those to CBSA, but the instructions I got from the CBSA email tells me to only send the consent to release form and 3 IDs. Am I blind/is the email missing something? Or I really don't have to send the fingerprints. :?

Also, congrats blueline95! I'm sure you're not the only one who's getting nervous. I would be too :D Good luck and hope everyone who will be going does their best!

Hi everyone :) I'm just wondering if anyone noticed a trend of when they tend to be hiring? I just graduated and I can't wait to apply. Thanks for all the tips :)

I think it's based off when they need more people they'll restore hiring. I'd email them and ask them directly. Last I read on their website you have to create a profile and keep searching.

I was told by commissionaires to attach the completed fingerprint form anyways, as sometimes things may get lost or misplaced. I just sent both as a precautionary measure. Nothing to sweat over.

Congrats! And good luck to you! You are part of a team that will help support and guide you so don’t even sweat it! Yourself and everyone attending the college are in it together. You have a strong foundation of great teachers and peers to help reach your goal. Wish you the best at college!

There's a slew of recruitment events that are going to take place from BC, to ON to QC from January to March 2020, here's the link:

https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/job-emploi/ ... l-eng.html

Majority of it is happening in BC, I'll be attending the one in Montreal in March.

And do open a GoC job account and set up your alerts - it's best way to get informed on when a posting gets listed.

Oh no! I was hoping for us to pass this together since we pretty much did it together

On a positive note, like what Tornelco said, there's lots of opportunity out there. Also, if you ever apply for CBSA again, your OTEE will still be valid!
