I completed it though am super sick and my eyes kept tearing up 😭

Tonight was the only night I could write it...but no excuses, as an officer will have to plug through any obstacles. Here’s hoping my results from the test are favourable!

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and the site. I just registered after doing my research on google as i need your help please.
I just wrote my CBSA OTEE EXAM this morning. And the time was allowed only 2 hours and 30 minutes. With 134 multiple questions. I only could complete 56 questions thats when the exam ended and my time was up. Can someone please tell me if 2.5 hrs for 134 questions enough time and how did you guys manage it? I had to think and think not too sure if i was so slow but I could not complete the whole questions. Now i am not sure what will happen as I feel like my exam will be considered as incomplete.
Please help me and advise of your own experience and what is the passing mark?

Am I still eligible to proceed further with the application?
Well...56 even answered all correctly is still less than 50%...I think that answers the question.

Time management is huge.

Unfortunately, those of us who did not complete the exam in the time alloted will not proceed through the selection process. You can apply to retake the exam in 365 days.

I was only 9 questions short of completing the OTEE. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish it in the time allotted. Best of luck to those proceeding through the selection process.

I finished the OTEE and I've written the other tests for the CBSA as well. In my experience the tests were similar in the aspect of competencies but the OTEE was more relevant for CBSA officers. All I can say is that the test itself challenges everything a CBSA officer does in their every day duties which are time management, handling stressful situations, clientele orientation etc.

This is only the first step in the entire process, if you can't manage to do these things and prepare for a test, then you should really think if you still want to continue with law enforcement. I've tried the CBSA for many years; I've failed many times but it has taught me patience. But I also encourage everyone who is just starting the process to never give up if you want it badly.
1st attempt WPT/GCT2: December 2015~Failed
2nd attempt WPT/GCT2: June 2016~Failed
Applied October 2017
Inverview: March 2018~Failed
Applied: Feb 6, 2019
OTEE: March 11- 15th 2019

Hey guys
Thank you for your answers.
i am wondering how to reply back to the specific person?
Im new to this site.

I would like to reply to one of your posts saying that you just finished your OTEE also done the other cbsa exams already. How come, ? Isn’t this the first stage and the first exam?

I am curious how people managed to quickly read and answer all the questions within 2.5 hours.
I mean English is not my first language but i am a graduate and have my degree. I am just a slow reader, but still im kinda upset about how they made such time alloted for that many questions. I am disappointed :(

Welcome poster,

The passing mark is sixty percent. You will have to correctly answer approximately 80 out of 134 questions successful to be pass with a minimum score.

Other posters have answered this question before, please review the posts in this thread for answers to questions before asking.

The test is an occupational based exam, if you didn’t perform good this time, practice, study and you’ll improve on the next test.

Based on the information you provided, I would state that you were unsuccessful in writing it this first time around.

Stay positive! Now you are aware on how to prepare yourself to do great on the next rewrite!

Has anyone here ever done a multiple choice exam in their life?

The oldest strategy in the book is to skip questions you struggle with and come back to them later.

At least if you fail the OTEE the only thing you lose is time. Just need to reapply in the next posting.

I finished the exam with approximately 2 seconds remaining. I'm confident all the questions were completed but I keep wondering if there was another question after that last one. Would it have said "test Incomplete" if not all the questions were answered?

Hello everyone, I have completed my exam. I could have studied for this, but I went with what was said online of there is no way to prepare for the test. I find this to be not true now that I think about it LOL.

I have had experiences in writing other law enforcement exams and processes, so I take this with me. I am happy to say I completed the exam and felt some moments were smooth and other moments I was not sure. I skipped the questions that took too long to answer and came back to them at a later time.

I am not sure when the results come in, but hopefully I pass. Good luck to the others that have applied :)

This is incorrect. It irrelevant what percentage you may get. You have to answer enough questions to get a score of 6/10 on the 4 competencies listed. You could theoretically get 85% and fail. If you get 3 separate 10/10 and 1- 5/10 and that would be considered a fail. It all depends on which questions you pass and which questions you fail. If you fail one competency and pass the other 3......it’s still a fail.

You are correct. Let be more specific, you
Must score sixty percent in each assessed competency to pass.
