A friend of mine is a Parliamentary Police Officer on the hill in Ottawa. I asked him about his firearms training. he said it's done using the RCMP model and the attached criteria shooting at human silhouette paper targets. Is this comparable to CBSA?

1 stage: 25 meter behind a barricade -5 shot strong side / 2 shot support side / 5 shot kneeling strong side / 2 shot kneeling support side / Tactical reloading / 2 shot on the ground
2 stage: 15 meter - 4 shot up and 4 shot down
3 stage: 10 meter - 2 shot 4 time when ask by the officer
4 stage: 5 meter - Police challenge - 4 time when threat 2 shot center mass 1 shot to the head
5 stage: 3 meter - One arms - 4 shot strong hand / emergency reload / 4 shot support hand
You have to score the minimum of point in each of stage and all the stage combine have to be 200 points. 225 is cross pistol and 250 perfect score is crown
Major Safety during the qualification is automatically a fail

Can someone give me more information about the second language test?

I found some details about the format of the assessment on the Public Services Commission's website, but I imagine there could be a couple of differences when done during the CBSA's hiring process.

Are some parts of the test done online, as indicated? I suppose the oral evaluation must be done in person? Where do evaluations usually take place - and how long does it take? I'm living in a remote area - anybody in my situation that already did the test?

I did some research on the forum, but I didn't find anything... Thanks!

Accurate, yet expected to change either 2020 or 2021. I heard that they're changing stage one a bit. Can't confirm exact changes, but what you said is currently accurate.

If I live in the Niagara region am I allowed to drive to Rigaud or is it something they make you fly or train or something because it’s over a certain distance. Just curious thanks in advance
You are free to go there any way you like. Having your car there will be a nice convenience plus for sure.

Most likely you will get paid in some form (gas money) that 2 way trip to Rigaud and back home. I would ask HR for the details.
I understand that you are new here so before you assume things such as this let someone who knows answer the question.
His answer was for the most part accurate.

Second question for anyone who did fly.

Again me from Niagara I just don’t want to drive and waste money on gas when it’s not really important. I’ll get away and walk where I need to go.

Question is two part.

When flying do you get a certain amount of luggage you can bring with you.

And once you are in Montreal do they have a transfer for you or is it on you to get to the college after they fly you out.

I brought two suitcases plus my carry on, they reimbursed me. Beyond that I'm not sure, but that was enough.

There's a shuttle from the airport to the college. (it's a school bus.) and the instructions they gave us were incorrect and there was a wonderful bonding moment of about 20 Rigaud recruits all hanging out in the wrong spot for a few hours before they found us.

I completed my SLE (French) this year. You start off with the Reading Comprehension test which consists of 60 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes. Then the Test of Written Expression is 65 multiple choice questions in 90 minutes.

If you achieve at least a B on both tests CBSA will schedule you for the Oral testing. The oral test involves listening to some recordings then explaining the content and answering some questions from your assessor. You also talk with your assessor about yourself. They will ask you some questions. It takes about 40 mins.

I signed up with a language school to practice before my exams. Well worth it. I'm not sure I would have pulled off my BB without their prep.

For the first two exams you are in a room with hundreds of government employees from various departments. Everyone needs to re certify every 5 years unless they get an exemption. Nothing is done online. I did my exams in some giant government of Canada building in Gatineau.

Well, my friends, if you are around the last steps of your selection process, you may receive an invitation in the next days.

I got an invitation earlier this week to start the online training module on December 23. Then, I may go to Rigaud on February 10. I will post my timeline because I'm not sure I'm dealing with the signature in the correct way:
