That's an impressive timeline, but not in a good way.
Did they give you any indication on the hold up? I got my clearance August 2018 and was on the January 2019 intake.... Not to rub it in or anything, more just curious.
To be fair, I blew out my ACL and meniscus which required reconstructive surgery and delayed me some. But there was still a year alone for my clearance. Then when I redid my medical someone inputted my name wrong and so they claimed they never received my results which resulted in me getting passed up on three rounds of intakes.
So essentially just a series of really unfortunate luck.
Here's hoping you'll get in January. That's the best intake anyway.
Yeah basically! Thanks, I'm hoping for January as well but I've yet to receive my results from my psych renewal. We'll see!

Hello ,

Been awhile I’ve been lurking on this forum and finally decide to post something! I have finished all of the steps, only thing missing is my security clearance. Integrity interview has been done in February 2019 and no news since then ! I’ve contacted recruitment by email and they told me that I’m in the security process without much info. Only thing I had to redo was my medical evaluation a month ago .

Is it normal that I haven’t heard from them in months ?

Is there a way to contact them by phone and ask them specifically where is my file ?

Btw Congratulations to all those who now have an invite to Rigaud !

Yes it's normal not to hear from them for months. I submitted my Sec Papers in Jan 2019 and have not heard back about it. Last I heard in May was that it was still in process. Sent another email on Oct 2nd and did not receive a reply in regards to a status update. I've already received a (Secret Level II) clearance with the Fed Gov in 2017 which is what makes the process more confusing for me personally. I get it, its a long process just have to have faith and hope for the best. I would not put all your eggs in one basket with the Federal Government though. Look for other opportunities as well because you never know how long it will take.

The email you got back probably looked something similar to telling you that the Security Stage can take over a year to complete and that it is a work in process, etc, etc. Am I right? It's pretty generic, unfortunately they don't give you much information. Some people will swear that by emailing recruitment, your file gets pushed. I don't know the validity of that, but it is a little odd that a lot of people talk of having something happen with their file pretty quickly after emailing them. Coincidence perhaps. Your integrity interview was in February you mentioned. When did you submit your actual papers? And when did you contact recruiting?

Submitted my papers back in April 2018 , and contacted them 3 months after my February 2019 interview .
Couldn't hurt to reach out. That's quite the time delay.

I personally think the PARE is more endurance based than strength. I scored pretty well but I'd say the most difficult part for me was getting through all the running. I'd work on interval training, if you have the room perform the shuttle run or run intervals on a treadmill/outside etc. You'll need some decent overall body strength and core endurance for the push/pull machine after completing your laps so compound body exercises will help (both upper and lower body). Everyone has a different fitness level and body type to kind of hard to give specific advice on what to do exactly. Hope this helps

Definitely work on your cardio and general weight training. I found that core strength training and endurance work helped the most. I did 3 tries (1 practice, 2 official) and improved each time, so just have a plan and keep at it!

Wanted to clarify because my result says "Your scores, shown above, are valid for this version only". If the exam changes, will CBSA require you to do that version of the exam thus making your old results invalid?
You are right. I did miss the point. I think it depends on the situation. Let’s say if you are in a process which you already passed the exam, even if they develop another test, you will not take the new test. However, if you apply for a new process, a new test is developed, then you need to take the new test. It is the case that the introduction of OTEE, when I re-applied to CBSA, my previous GT2 and WPCT are not valid anymore.
Hey Kelly any word on security stuff for yourself. ? I haven’t heard anything yet was just wondering cause our timelines are pretty much the same
Hi Jwlong,

I heard from a friend that new recruits need to do PARE in Rigaud, and have to finish within shorter period time comparing to the passing point. Could someone verify it for me? I appreciate your help.

Unless this is new I actually heard the opposite... I heard that the PARE was ran on a few occasions during your time in Rigaud but that they were not considered official / Pass or Fail... I would also like to confirm this from a recent recruit / BSO for sure ;)

7 months for an interview is quite the wait, eh? :D But I'm glad you made it to the next step. Congratulations!
Indeed long wait, if all goes well, maybe late summer of 2020 Rigaud training. I guess ( not sure just guessing) there are 2 training waves during the year, one in January and one in August.
Excellent news!
Just keep in mind that the security clearance can take something between 4 to 12 months... :? received an email in september telling me it could be a long way! Patience is the key..!
Thats the best case scenario. Ive been waiting about 15 months.

Hey all, I'm sort of new to the CBSA chat. Just wanted to know if anyone has any idea about placement after completing the course. I would like to know how the process works and if you are to select the area/region you want to work in?

Thanks!

Same here , already received security clearance in 2018 from the federal gov (secret level 2) don’t understand why they have to redo it

Hi there, when did you first pass your psych int/test? I got my sec clearance recently but my psych was done back in Jan 2018. I had to redo the medical and PARE. I guess they had to resched the psych for you right?

New to the forum, although I have been recently keeping an eye out for winter invites.

I noticed several people asking when invites for winter 2020 are expected. I assume this week or next would be likely due to an email I received in September. Recruitment asked me to renew my PARE and ensure it's submitted by October 15th to be considered for the winter intakes. I imagine that they would currently be assigning seats for the next intakes in Jan/Feb. Obviously speculation but for those interested I hope that helps.
