Got my CATIII appointment booked but I didn't think it would be in 3 months, lol. I was hoping it would be within the month or something. Guess the clinic is really busy. Question though, what kind of tests will I be doing other than the vision and hearing that's mentioned on the Selection Process. I tried to go through the Occupational Health Eval Standard page but I'm just not seeing what I'm looking for.
Did you get an email from Recruiting that scheduled you for the medical or did you reach out to Health Canada directly for an appointment?

My security docs have been submitted 6 months now and I haven't heard anything since.
6 months = Early
I've waited for 1.5 years so...
Appreciate the perspective.

I'm just basing my inquiry from what other members here have posted - that group seems to have had their CAT III done within 1 to 4 months of submitting their security documents.

Maybe a dumb question but theres a few different lingos happening.. is the CAT III the same as the “Pre-placement Medical Appointment”? Mine is “expired” , waiting to get it redone. Does that mean we have to get the audiology redone as well?

Thanks :) here’s hoping a bunch of us get that email, quite a few have been waiting awhile now.... some I don’t even understand how it can be that long...
In the same boat ⛵️ Wish we had some idea of an estimated time.
I must advise applicants that H.R does have a priority list. Invites do not go by first come first serve basis, unfortunately.
Would you be able to tell us is this based of how long you've been in the process or is it based on who is operationally ready?

Based on a lot of things.
Qualifications
Scores
Answers to questions
How many times you've pestered Recruiting (can be both good and bad if you do too much)
Security Screening
The list goes on and on.
Essentially the priority goes to someone they feel checks the most boxes and is the most competitive applicant. Essentially the best fit.
Your best bet would be to not worry about it and live your life until you get a positive/negative email/call.

Count me in that same boat ⛵️ as well. Got email stating CAT III will expire prior to next Intakes so basically just waiting for that email from regional office to give me the go ahead to redo my Medical. Lets hope 🤞🏻 that will be sooner then later.
I was granted clearance in August. Medical will expire before the next intake. Looking like a reoccurring story here!

I have a question regarding invite to training. I know nothing is 100% sure. I am just wondering what is the chance that someone gets invitation to training after completion of every steps. How do they decide who get picked first?

I got security clearance early December 2019. Maybe we can share about our clearance granted time for the ones are waiting for invite.

I imagine the anxiety to get the credentials for Online part that starts in less than a week. lol

But the history in the forum shows that in most cases credentials are sent less than a week before start, so the email will come, maybe good news Friday is the day.

Does anyone have an idea what the most preferred ports/locations are? I'm from Edmonton and I'm wondering of my chances for staying in Alberta.

If the rumors are right , the CBSA may be matching in the future the preferred work region in the application with the POE assignment. Best will be the POE to be announced at Invite for the Online part. I bet every applicant will welcome that change. As it seems, the mobility clause and the allowance while at training are one of the factors that negatively impact CBSA's image to potential candidates.

"While the intent of OIM is to permanently place officers at POEs that had identified a need for additional frontline resources, the continued prevalence of requests for transfer out of those POEs could indicate that the ideal placement model has not been found."

"The Officer Allowance at the College and the mobility clause could be limiting the ability of the CBSA to remain competitive and to effectively place Officer Trainees where they are needed. Other organizations, some of which are competing with the CBSA for applicants (such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or the Ontario Provincial Police), are providing higher compensation/stipend during training. The training stipend and the process used by the CBSA to recruit and place officers in regions across Canada have had negative impacts on the Recruits and Officer Trainees, which could result in a less than desirable image of the Agency."

"The Workforce Plan will need to include a placement strategy that allows identification of placement as early as possible in the OIM process;"
